Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

mo--ns in Charge

mo–ns in charge at just about every level in this company. Leaving the HBC stores open to the public while closing the others is just leading to more dissent among the managers and associates in the stores staying open. What full timer in their right mind would choose to continue working and expose themselves to more risk when they could stay at home and still get paid for 35 hours?!? Whoever thought this plan would work is an id–t. They need to offer an incentive (money or PTO) for those who are still working in a store that is still open to the public during these next two weeks. Give at least something to those associates who choose to assume the risk in order to serve our customers.

I said this is a good time to weed out a few more stores and let a few people go

Here's a thought how many stores do you think they will reopen after this has passed?

Anything in writing on the paid time for these closures?

If HR, your SM or DM told you that you have to use your PTO if you want to get paid while you stay at home these next two weeks, that is INCORRECT. Full timers will get paid for 35 hours if they choose not to work during this crisis. ASM’s will get paid for 45 hours during this crisis. NONE of this will come out of your PTO. Bed Bath is actually doing the right thing here - the crazy part though for the stores that are still open to the public is why would any full timer or manager choose to work and expose themselves to the risk when they can stay at home, be safe, and still get paid basically the same amount????

I was told by my HR partner that I can use my vacation time or I can go unpaid.

Full timers should KNOW they are entitled to at least a week paid without using PTO. BBB won't tell you unless you're a "friend"

Yes, you can choose to stay home and get paid even in the stores that are still open to the public, but some store managers and/or DM’s have choosen not to communicate those “inconvenient” details.
