Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowes is not closing

Essential businesses that are not ordered to close include grocery stores, supermarkets, food banks, outdoor farmer markets, schools/childcare centers, gas stations, banks, and hardware stores.

Thats from LA - they just closed all businesses except the ones listed above

No one is asking them to close. But they are doing NOTHING to protect employees or customers. There is little to no cleaning, much less sanitizing.

If grocery stores can make changes in their hours to allow time to restock and disinfect, do can a hardware store.

Lowe’s is open 16 hours a day. 16 hours of which are completely filled with IRPs, order management, doing anything asked, and helping the insane amount of customers we have during a time where we are supposed to be practicing social distancing. Then we have our night crew which is already understaffed, with the truck, deliveries, and pricing.

So when exactly is this cleaning getting done?? It’s not. What exactly are they doing to protect us?? Nothing. That is the issue. They are not that essential that they can bypass any action to keep everyone safe. They can close early to allow associates time to clean. They can limit the numbers of customers in the store. They choose to have us so busy they’re calling code 3s left and right....not for people buying essential items. But for people k–ling time because they’re bored. For people buying paint and supplies for projects because people are treating this like an effing vacation while their kids run around like it’s a playground.

I am appalled at Lowe’s blatant disregard for its employees and our health and safety.

When it's the Apocalypse but you're itching to get some deck stain during the buy one get one half off sale.

Funny how a month ago our jobs were low pay because they were unskilled, and apparently now they're essential to the functioning of society. Sounds like a good time to unionize.
