Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Covid19 news?

Anyone out there know anything about Xerox's plans if (when) this virus causes more than a temporary interruption in business? Other companies are already laying people off.

Where I am, they called an "emergency" meeting to talk about coronavirus and then spent 2 hours b–ching about metrics as though it were business as usual.

In the UK the government has promised to cover 80% of the salary, up to £2500 a month, for each employee during this crisis. Should avoid a number of immediate lay offs

Hope this helps some of you. This email came from Payroll Services:

Dear Colleagues,

You are receiving this message because you are identified as a manager of one or more non-exempt employees who Xerox is required to track time for and pay overtime for hours worked typically above 40 per week or based on state/local regulations.

To help limit the spread of coronavirus, all Xerox employees should work from home unless they absolutely cannot. Employees working from home should continue to submit their time-reporting per their usual process and report or adjust In/Out punches on their timecards to reflect time worked and record any absences for vacation, illness, etc.

For employees who are unable to work due to COVID-19 related circumstances, two new time codes have been created in eTIME to report time away from work. These are only to be used for coronavirus-related absences:

  • Absence-Appr Pd-Non-Ill Pandemic: used for non-illness related absences, e.g., third-party or client closures, lack of child care due to school or daycare facilities closing, etc.
  • Absence-Appr Pd - Ill - Pandemic: used for illness-related absences, e.g., those in quarantine or self-isolation with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 symptoms.

Please share these codes with any of your non-exempt employees for whom you know these codes will apply.

Questions related to the appropriate use of these codes should be directed to USAHROperations@xerox.com.

Thank you,

Xerox Payroll Services

Today a technician was told that if he self isolated due to potential exposure, he would not be paid.

call centres in asia are now affected (manila is in lock down) yet the management seem to think they can provide a BAU service.

Other than their mismanagement and overall misdirection this will give them another excuse to lay-off the “essential workers.”
Time to crash and burn. No BSR will save this scenario. Xerox has met their CronX.

It’s a ghost town in our office. Anybody who can work from home ya done so. The rest of if operations and service people have to show up. They keep sending us emails about how employees and their families are top priority but I’m not believing that at all. A lot of our customers are closing down and those of us left don’t have much to do. I’m sure it’s a matter of time before layoffs. This is going to tank the good quarter they were expecting to have.

US govt has estimated 2M people have already been furloughed or laid off just in the last 2 weeks. So this will be bad for everyone.
