What is up with HD closing at 6 and we are closing at 10 still? What the hell is wrong with this company? I love the emails they sent out about emergency paid leave and telemedicine? This is how our company protects us? Still need approval from manager before filling out emergency paid leave (ACC). It first said in the email "During this unprecedented time, we are continually adapting our approach to meet the needs of our associates and to safeguard your health and wellbeing. If you meet the criteria and are eligible for Emergency Paid Leave (ACC) please follow steps below." Then it has steps on confirmed case or high medium risk or the low no risk option in the email. All people leader approval and My Hr send an email approving or denying request. So basically you need to be approved to even protect ourselves fantastically crafted marv. They are purposely forcing us folks to work in this virus or marv and company said jumo through these hoops first then our marvelous (local people leaders and ACC might let us go. Do you guys see how this is working? The king and queens have say ok. I would wanna believe our basic human rights are infringed upon in this. A dictatorship of a company shame on lowes. Greed is fueling this insane policy and circumstances. They will not mark my words will not close and or close early period. Look at the virus stats map. Us retail people are doomed and our families. All because a retailer cant their greedy head out of their a– long enough to realize what they are putting employees through. Oh yea and the customers shopping are a bug chunk of the issue. If these old people and DA contractors would stay home chances are stores would need to close. But customers are almost as bad as mr. Selfish greed guy. Rant Over!

My husband works at Lowe's and he put in for the Emergency Paid Leave because my doctor has me self quarantine for 14 days. He got an ASM to approve the leave and enter the form out online. A few hours later it was approved online. After a few days he checked and he was getting 8 hours pay code TTO for the days he was scheduled. The day before he had to return the manager calls him to tell him that his request was denied and they took off all the pay that was in system. It still says he is Approved and his case is closed. Not sure why they give you an option to apply for it when all they're going to do is deny you after they approve everything. I'm not even sure how they can say its denied since it's still showing Approved
I work at Home Depot and my doctor put me on 14 day self quarantine because of my high fever and my other symptoms. He said he was about 90% positive I have the virus but I dont qualify to get tested because I'm not having trouble breathing and I'm dont have underlying conditions. He gave me a note and Home Depot still denied my 14 day pay. They say I have to be tested to receive it. I can't even go to the hospital to be tested because they're only testing people they admit. I don't understand it. I can't help I'm sick and cant go to work unless I risk getting others sick but they wont pay me for being out.
I work in an RDC and after we got our first case of Covid a couple of weeks ago, management shut down halfway through the day shift; claimed to do a thorough CDC cleaning (in about 12 hours) and reopened the next day. Since then, we have added 3 more cases, but haven’t closed again to clean. One of my coworkers has COPD and was denied emergency leave. We finally got one mask each to reuse until this is over. And to add stupidity to chaos, we have just gone into scheduled overtime so we can make sure our stores are full of ‘essential items ‘ so our customers don’t get bored! Go Lowe’s!!!
Lowe's is supposedly staying open as they are supplying product to first responders. Not sure what products they would be buying at Lowe's for a health eppedemic this is not a hurricane or other natural disaster that requires building supplies. The only care about making a profit and not about the health and well being of there employee's or customers. Being the only store open we have massive crowds of people which is exacerbating the risk. Want to stay open fine, cut staff to a small crew and only allow 5 or 10 customers in at once.
By the way, corporate office is closed!
Marvin bought a cool million in Lowe’s stock on March 10, it’s gone down ever since, sure makes Marvin look like a financial genius doesn’t it?
Their greed will be their undoing....
Nature and the universe always balances things out...
Given Lowe’s long history of copying absolutely everything that HD does, it is ironic that in this one instance where it would actually benefit their employees they refrain from doing so.
Just file suit if you get...Lowes will lose.
I’m sure HD is hiring. Problem solved. Run along now
IMPORTANT! If anyone gets this virus or has a family member who gets it ect we have to go through damn Sedgwick to get time off. Anyone who has dealt with them know the BS and hell about Sh–wick.
Sedgwick has a long history of not approving people guys. This whole scheme is designed so no one misses work. They act like they care and gave us options. In reality they just set up two brick walls.
My husband is high risk (diabetes and hypertension, 54 years old) and he works at lowes. He can't even ask questions at work about how the situation is being handled without being snapped at by management ("we don't know anything" or "people are making a big deal out of nothing"). We already were having financial difficulties as it is because he doesn't get paid much as a full time employee. It's really awful right now. I'm scared.
Sarcasm guy I totally agree with you. Who wants to work in this sh–hole when this is going down?
@pps+143MwRbb
Are people just this bad at detecting sarcasm, or are there just more bootlickers here than I had thought? Who the hell wants to work here when there's a pandemic going around?
I feel like we are being asked and are being compelled to work in spite of the urgency of the situation and the emerging issue. Corporate is pretending that this is no big deal and that everyone else is over-reacting and paranoid and the customers are coming in for routine, non-essential items that can wait and can be put off. Corporate is accommodating them in order to make money that they think will be left on the table by Depot closing at 6. Problem is the mall is closed totally and supermarkets are closed at 7:30, so there is generally no reason to be on the road unless you are leaving your house just to go to Lowe's. We have been told that under no circumstances are we going to match Depot's hours. Also the two weeks paid time off is, as I understand it, only after you test positive for the virus and can prove it with a note from your healthcare professional but by then, it seems like it is too late. I don't feel comfortable working for a company that treats its employees like this, like we are disposable and there is a certain amount of integrity that I expect as an employee of this company as well as a certain amount of accountability (but I am not holding my breath).
A manager saying I'm very sure lowes will not close or modify their policies. Ya better be right pal lol.
If you ask me we would be close to the same thing as working in the hospitals during this pandemic. That is how ridiculously mishandled the situation is at lowes.
An essential service would be a hardware convenient store such as an Ace Hardware not a big box retailer. Besides the essential stuff is gone because we had a bunch if mo–nic people buy Toilet Paper like it was the last chance that their butts would get clean from 200 rolls. If we must stay open then a store pickup delivery to parking lot approach needs to be done to minimize contact. Sir your reasoning for us risking our lives over a retail store is absurd. We are not the military nor ran by the military. We are ran by greedy people who take advantage of this pandemic and buy a million dollars in shares to be more filthy rich. That's not something you or anyone should be proud of.
I have heard through other sources GD is giving out 80 additional sick hours without penalty. Therefore if an employee feels like he or she dies not want to risk getting sick than they can stay home. Again dont quote me on that but that what I have heard my friend.
Ahem, we are an essential service. You never know when someone may desperately need marble polish or paint sticks or haribo bears or a drill bit. Just like war journalists or healthcare workers, people have a right to what only we can provide and we'd better be happy to risk our lives to give it to them.
I mean before you worked at Lowe's how many times were you sitting there in your home at 9 pm during a pandemic that closed nearly all businesses and thought 'I desperately need a natural sea sponge roller frame and I'm willing to risk my life and lives of those I come into contact with to purchase this item.' I mean, it's happened to all of us by now.
The service we products and services we offer are worth risking our lives for.
1 email talking about employees having access to telemedicine permanent or seasonal to discuss symptoms ect. Another email taling about contracting the virus or being in close proximity with a friend family member or someone exposed an employee has been around. Either it has to get approved through myhr system. The way I see it looks like the situation is not being rectified like other businesses are doing an example would be Home Depot. Pretty much work if you get the virus then it's a too little too late approach just to keep the business running at mach 9 even though an obvious national crisis is going on. Now what kind of BS is that?
