Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Company to close 800 stores for virus.

Plans to close stores until April 3rd....
Excludes Harmon Stores as they carry essentials..
Excludes buy buy baby stores..

No word on other branded stores.

They took a big hit on Twitter thanks to employees reaching out to news stations.

Managers still report to work- unsure of Associates or PT crew.

They don’t care about making the right decision. It’s all about money. Keep the stores open, even though no one’s shopping and we’re barely cracking $1000 in sales every day right now. It’s only to satisfy the CEOs ego. Dude’s proving that whatever caused the turnaround at Nordstrom and Target, he couldn’t have been more than only marginally involved, because he sure has no idea how to run a business. At this point my left sock could do a better job than he could.

This is a big big mess, they should have bit the bullet and at least close till the end of the month instead of putting many more at risk. Company can’t seem to make a single right decision.

I was told by a manager of another store in our district that all employees will still work even though we are closing, not just managers.

There is NO reason ANY bed bath should still open. The only reason managers are still asked to come in is because Corp wants useless product moves to still happen and the mentality that if we're paying you GDI we're going to get some work out of you. All while the DMs sit at home.

For those stating they are not closing and they are not a Harmon- this was announced at 6:30 to the public and at 7-8 to the DMs and SMs. The media has made a big issue out of this and clearly bbb has not learned.

I work at a baby store, we are being called essential even though we do not in any facet meet the state’s definition of essential business. I’m in NY btw.

Unacceptable, BBB. Our leadership is completely in over their heads. Keep up the pressure on Twitter and Instagram, clearly it’s working.

Customers are beating BBB up on social media now. Customers remember the companies that do good in times like these, and they especially remember the companies that do bad. Those companies, they punish by never going back. I don’t think MT and the senior managers realize that this is a mess that could cost the company very dearly, and it’s a mess of their own making. They only have themselves to blame. Greed ain’t pretty.

We aren't a Harmons store but were told we aren't closing unless it's state mandated which it isn't. We were only told today to cut back on employee hours. We aren't even closing earlier like all the other stores around us

Oh hey. Let’s just put half of our employees at risk so they can sell shampoo. Awesome idea!
