Cashier has tested positive for coronavirus. Lowe’s has not shut down nor notified the public. This is worse than the department manager debacle a few years ago. Safety is our number 1 priority though

The main transmission method is inhaling a contagious persons breath, not physical contact. And the problem is that their microdroplets can linger in the air for hours, so no security camera is going to give you an accurate read on who may have been exposed.
Even when someone is sick with this plague, they STILL insist on going through the motions that look good instead of doing what needs to be done. And if my life is that worthless to then they can rot in hell.
I completely understand that a business has to be open in order to keep jobs for their employees but there are so many other precautions that a business could use to help stop this virus from spreading.
That being said, the public must
take responsibility for their part in spreading the virus. I don't care how boared you are or how much of a sale any place of business is having that you have just got to take advantage of. I don't even care if your yard or walls look like total sh– and you have to repaint or replant. This virus is not a f—ing joke, it's the one thing that does not discriminate against race, religion, age, gender the rich or the poor, the young or the old. Make no mistake, this virus is cunning and vicious, It can and does ride on the backs of people without ever being detected, meanwhile jumping from one person to another and if you feel you have to have a plant or a gallon of paint without any regard to your life or others around you than you are no better than the virus itself. The virus could become homebound and eventually die out but people who roam around in the public for no good reason continue giving it the power it needs to grow stronger and multiply.
So, the next time you go to your local store for anything other than what is essential just remember every family that losses a loved one from this virus could have lost that loved one because you or someone just like you were boared. If that doesn't turn on some kind of light in your head maybe you lossing a loved one because someone out there just needed something to do will.
STAY HOME..that paint or plant will still be there in a month or so, the nice person who helps you buy it may not be.....
They did not threaten to fire anyone, they asked if anyone felt the need/or felt sick to let management know so they could go home. They also looked at the cameras and sent everyone who came in contact with the cashier home as well. I am an employee there as well, and was sick with an upper respiratory infection a month ago. Was told by multiple doctors to let it run it’s course and it would go away within 14 days. They were not testing for COViD 19 at the time so my wife, daughter and I didn’t think about it and continued to work. So it could have been the sickness, who knows. But they have not hid it from anyone, the customers are well aware of what’s going on. They continue to shop and flood the place not regarding the 6 foot rule. There are signs up and everything guidelines from corporate, and other measures that are followed as soon as they are rolled out. Stop spreading false information and lying. If you work there and are miserable, then leave. You’re probably dead weight anyways.
SHUT IT DOWN
Just called the store- they said the employee did test positive, but has been on leave and not in the store since 3/4. Also they decontaminated the store and have been doing so/cleaning nightly.
Edit: corrected date to 3/4 from 3/14 Edit: My first Gold! Thank you kind stranger!
Stay away from Homewood Lowe’s
A Homewood Lowe’s employee was tested for COVID-19. While waiting for the test results, Lowe’s made all workers continue working “or they were told they would be fired.” The employee tested positive for the virus and they did not notify the public. This comes from an employee.
EDIT: Since people love being obtuse about anything instead of being part of an informative conversation...
I do get that this could be taken as me being someone who enjoys stirring things up, or maybe I’m on a mission to “take it to the man” and damage Lowe’s with a rumor. Reddit is an anonymous place and people say all kinds of things all the time. I really do get it. That’s why I urge everyone to take this with a grain of salt, but I’m only posting this to inform with no agenda other than to give people information they may find useful in being careful to avoid KNOWN viral hotspots.
My mother suffers from sarcoidosis of the lungs and is frequently on oxygen. She is in her 50s and is well into the danger zone for both of those reasons. We’re all trying to be careful during this time and I understand as well as anyone could the dangers this virus poses to someone like my mother. This absolutely is rumor and/or hearsay to anyone reading it because you don't know me from a hole in the ground. I'm a fellow Shelby-Jefferson-St Clairian who became privy to firsthand knowledge of this happening. If one employee tests positive, you can bet your a– more have it.
EDIT 2: This has also happened at the 280 location as of today as well. It's honestly probably already in every business, but I am speaking to what I know to be true. When you go out to shop (we all have to), come inside when you get home and wash up and even change your clothes. Wipe everything down that you touched on that way. Stay safe, everyone. We will get through this.
Our store is filthy. Bathrooms are dirty, no disinfectant to clean computers, zebras, anything. Not a thing to clean the credit card machines, which everyone touches with their fingers. I won't be ever touching it again. It is a bloody shame how Lowe's is dealing with this crisis. Two toilets out of order. It looks like a carnival with a full parking lot and store. But, people need a PVC part and blinds, and, God knows, they need to work on a new floor for their kitchen. Some older folks walking around the store with masks on.
Logically they should shut down the store for two weeks. But that's making them no money. Can't have that.
Instead they will ride the incubation period wave and let people get sick, pass it on, and continue to force people who are now sick but don't know it yet to continue to work.
By the time that second wave is out on their two weeks, the first will be coming back. And the third is just waiting for their time to fall ill.
Lowe's, you can prevent this heartache. Put your people, your greatest asset, ahead of your bottom line. If one employee tests positive, shut down the store.* Period. Anything less is manslaughter at best.
Isn’t tomorrow official high 5 a manager day? All customers and employees might want to participate.
Yes. Buffie is the store manager and Charles is the new market director
Yes. I can confirm this. I am employed at this store. State farm parkway in homewood
Are any of you employed by the store in Alabama?
I bet not.
Seriously, if this job makes you that miserable, quit
Why is Lowe's not covered under the new mandate just released on Fox-6 covering establishments over 25 people and unable to maintain 6 foot boundary? Especially with customers. We all have to use same phone's, computers and equipment. They're even laughing at taking advantage of HD closing early, and we'll stay late. Ellison is pure evil!
Cases are ballooning in Birmingham AL(Homewood is a suburb of Birmingham) so this would not surprise me if true. If confirmed, then I would think that the company would arrange for and pay for testing for ALL employees in that store. They did that very thing in another nearby Alabama store about 20 years ago when an employee tested positive for TB.
fake news
This is horrible
