Will be interested to see the size of the CEO bonus this time around. 2015, lay-off half the workforce and still write yourself a $15 million check. Failed Baker acquisition, failed business management decisions and pat yourself in the back.

I don't blame most for living paycheck to paycheck because honestly many people are not granted the luxury of financial literacy education. What you're saying I imagine is said in anger and panic, I'm sorry for what you're going through. I'm scared too. I'm terrified too. But here's the logic of what you said, you think with a few weeks severance and extended unemployment (which is going to be about 50% of my salary and without insurance or COBRA which costs a ton) I can easily find another 6 figure job with good benefits? I get what you're saying but if you genuinely think it's best for 40% cuts across the board of the company, I don't know what to say. Agree to disagree. Furlough for us would be infinitely preferable. Furlough keeps me employed and my sick wife fully insured and with much more income and benefits than unemployment. Furlough keeps my colleagues with new babies employed and fully insured. Yes bills will be due, but that problem is worse when you're unemployed.
Well, take it from an old-timer that used to work for the sorry s*b's. You mean NOTHING to them. Once they are through with you, you're gone! 29 plus years with them, and out the door. If I was a young man again, I would NEVER work for them.
90% of America lives paycheck to paycheck regardless of income level. Cutting someone’s income in half is almost as bad as laying them off. Who cares if you still have a job if you can no longer afford to pay your bills. Your Mortgage company won’t care. Your credit card company won’t care and neither will your auto loan company. You might get sympathy from the electric company. And spare me the “they should have been better with their money bull c-ap” again 90% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Whether they make 12,000 a year or 245,000 a year
Honestly this saves a lot of jobs in the long run. There's a recession coming folks despite what Mnuchin says. This furlough will hurt many of us temporarily but I'd rather more people stay employed with benefits. Many of us get paid far better salaries than the median of US income earners and have been for years. Operators are cutting production by a ton until demand returns, HAL keeping a trained workforce that is ready to go when demand returns. People get in so many pissing matches in here about field vs office but both are crucial and I would rather we all stay employed. Top brass should be pressured to lose any bonuses and their salary cut as well. Still I'll take the cut temporarily if it keeps me and my coworkers safe. They're all crazy hardworking, many just had kids or have sick spouses. Losing the job would be worse.
This is one way to not have to pay separation packages when they lay people off. Force us to quit–no separation package and can't file for unemployment if we quit.
I'm in Spring, we are being told it isnt effecting us but you cant believe anything anymore. Hold on to your hats sh– is getting real, fast.
Have they announced what they're gonna do at other sites? It's hilarious how I'm dependant on a backwater spaghetti salesman forum to find out news about own job.
At least you still carry benefits.... and once the same work gets done with 50% staff and your job is not creating value - you know your sign.
