If they laid me off remotely, can I still get into the office to grab my stuff? (office is about to be locked down)

There’s no ring to it the other way. Plus CBS has nothing special for anyone under 70. All garbage programming. Schitt’s Creek doesn’t count.
CBS was worth more than Viacom before the merger but look how the Redstones placed Viacom before CBS for the new company title. How convenient.
Yeah, it is too bad that CBS even exists... Network TV is a joke.
CBS used to be such an awesome company and look at it today merged with Viacom. Ridiculous. I was with the company for almost 20 years and I am so glad I am out and working for another company. Like the titanic it's going to sink even lower sadly.
You couldn’t be more right and it’s unfortunate nobody cares. Right now every single job could be saved due to circumstances if Bob and his team of inefficient and delusional “leaders” sacrificed a bit themselves. Like, I don’t know, even 10% of each one’s salaries can save a TON of jobs. Considering they do the LEAST amount of work, like, I don’t know, leave all the ideas to the people in the middle who don’t get credit and/or have their great ideas simply stolen, putting in countless hours and knowing you have to despite the bs of work/life balance. Come on. Let’s get more people to speak out and put the real truths out there. Go hard. This POS company and others like it should learn the empathy they so claim to possess. The hard way. Astronomical salaries for a c-appy job. We no longer need to stand for this. Take the money you gave Joe Ianello BACK. Don’t take more from the rest of us who actually do the work to keep this company afloat. You dropped the ball in so many ways ViacomCBS. Your so-called leadership has failed and continues to fail. You don’t even care. Just buy back more cheap stock. Shameful what you have done to Sumner’s legacy. He’s rolling over in his hospice bed right now.
Don't get it twisted. ViacomCBS and Blob Bakish do NOT care about staff. Not one single iota. This whole "We're All in this Together" campaign is simply a lipservice slogan with absolutely no legitimate value. There has been zero indication that the planned end of March layoffs will be postponed (especially when taking into account the fact that the stock is tanking with no end in sight). Expect ViacomCBS to continue their planned layoffs (probably this upcoming week, if not the following week in addition), throwing people out during a time where finding a new job will be next to impossible for an indefinite amount of time.
This is the real ViacomCBS. This is a horrible company with horrible leadership that lacked a real cohesive plan since the merger was announced in August and finalized in December. And now all of you, the regular people, get to pay the price.
Whats with the over the top concern for the staff now? Doesnt sound like the same company telling staff about layoffs that are coming. Mixed messages much?
Bob just has a very small... Agenda. Can’t wait for the opening bid on this garbage. Nobody wants it. Ship has sailed. Can you just sell to someone? Nobody wants to pay more for NCIS American cities. Or FBI, wherever tf. Blue Bloods? Ugh. You can sweep this garbage under the rug and nobody would miss it. I wish the boomers AND CBS would just disappear. Who brags about the evening news with Norah... Terrible. Bob, you’re old. Let someone else figure it out. Someone who’s awake, has vision. Darn. Forgot Freston said, “Never Again.” Learn from Tom, Bob. LEARN. FROM. TOM. Cuz you s—.
Stop whining
Exactly why Les refused Shari's 3 attempts to merge
Bob certainly did have an aggressive turnaround plan.... (Variety). And they certainly did hit the ground running... All the way out of town...
Stock chart: $70 March 2017, $10 March 2020
Viacomcbs has nothing special to offer among all that is available and Shari/Bob have rendered it useless - stock will be under $6billion by day's end - down 80% in 100 days
Suffice to say viacomCBS is going bankrupt and everybody is out of a job - not just the all-important anonymous poster
Did Bob Bakish post this?
Never have i seen someone so concerned about themselves in a time like this. We're all in the same boat anonymous - it's not all about you. Stop posting these stupid selfish daily bulletins as if they are more important than Existing posts that cover EVERYBODY in general
You'll be the first to know if they can layoff remotely
What would likely happen: once employees are advised to return to the office your belongings will be mailed to you. Frankly in this climate at this company nobody should still have much stuff at work. Nearly everyone in my dept brought their stuff home weeks ago with only basic personal essentials at work.
Wow, this has really become the place for stupid.
They can absolutely lay you off via video.
My you know what is locked down
Which office/department is being locked down?
Now that's what I call a remote comment
Office is already locked down.
