Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

So let’s do some math.

With the sale of Pmall, and the sale of the property that generated 500 million in cash.

We already have 800 mill in cash, that brings the total cash in the first qtr to what we will hues to be around 1.2 billion (given we have a loss again)

Each store renovation costs the company close to 1.2 million (some more some less)

The last public update was that they have renovated around 76 stores out of the 990 bbby store. With them closing 40 ish we will have around 950ish

If they were to renovate the remaining 840 stores it would cost them close to 1.08 billion. (All of these are estimates so let’s be clear on that)

My bet is that they are going to sell off Christmas Tree Shops to generate another 1 billion in cash.

That is when the remaining fleet will be renovated.

They have been talking about doing. Major renovations this year, and when I mean major I know of 6 stores being renovated in my region this year alone. 3 were done last year.

Any other word on upgrades out there?

I heard that they rerenovating a flagship store. Waste more unnecessary money. What they need to do is hire me back and hang a huge banner that says I am back. That should bring back about half the customers they lost. Then implement my ideas to turn the entire company around.

Until the tired old mostly male RVP, RM and DM levels are removed no amount of renovation will make a difference. How much more time will we waste moving the same old merchandise to different parts of the building because yea that will increase sales? No real new ideas ever because we have Regional and District "leadership" that should have retired already.

So is renovating stores being spun as an answer to turn this company around? The toxic culture is the problem. The old, antiquated technology is the problem. The overpriced merchandise is the problem. There will be layoffs out in stores and corporate, but guess what...the problems will remain. Are the stores that have been renovated seeing a huge upswing in business, no. Chains like Target, Walmart, and even Home Goods which people have flocked to completely forgetting about BBB are now taking BBB coupons on the same merchandise they are already selling for less money. Let's do THAT math.
