Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

Plant Closures in The Works!

Plants to be closed and consolidated but confirmed plans for Appleton and OKC sites in the US. Discussions have progressed and actions to be taken Q3 2020 with majority of staff to be laid off and no relocation to other opportunities.

Next round of strategic layoffs targeted for Feb 28th 2020. Hold onto your butts!

Can confirm that strategic layoffs occurred at PSS, ISV, Actuation Houston, and select Plants (not sure exactly where but mostly in Climate division). 10< people were let go at each of the sites but unsure exact count of Plant layoffs.

RE Appleton: The distributon center is being relocated to Olive Branch MS, thats still in progress. If a plant were to close it would make more sense to close the Elmira plant than Houston. Any rumor on who's in the running to buy the division?

Anonymous, you're right regarding Appleton but I too have heard of advanced-level discussions around Appleton, specifically Houston and elsewhere. Yes Appleton has a whole is being shopped but there are plans being worked on to spin-off or simply divest the business at its been a poor performer financially speaking.

OKC I assume is ISV related? If so they are probably toast as that acquisition hasn't panned out and the division as a whole has missed POR more times than anyone can count.

Appleton plant consolidation doesn’t make sense given it’s publicly known that it is being shopped for sale to a strategic buyer.

Appleton Houston closure is illogical as it’s owned and has vertically integrated foundry assets (hard to relocate assets + find qualified employees). Appleton Stephenville (TX) may make sense and has been kicked around for some time. Appleton Memphis was already being closed as they were already moving across the river to a new facility in TN.

OKC closure makes sense as facility is leased with lease coming due in next 12-24 months.
