Thread regarding Neiman Marcus Group layoffs

New layoffs

New layoffs are about to happen at the store level. It is being referred to as the March action. These layoffs will effect not only management, but also sales support. The corporate leaders keep sending out emails touting their new policies of “love”! This is an insult to the word love. Nm does not love it’s employees or customers. It is greedy. Thoughts are with those who will loose their jobs.

The melodramatic walking out of the employees is ridiculous. Just tell someone their position was eliminated due to downsizing and let them leave without the drama. They deserve dignity.

Everything you see happening now is hardly surprising. Last Call was never a business model they cared to really invest in. There are many at NM who felt Last Call tainted their snooty image.

In time, NM will have to close the poor performing full line stores as well. If you are an employee with one of these stores, you should be looking for something better now.

It’s started. No managers yet but back office has begun the escort out of the store. Hope this store doesn’t hemorrhage to many layoffs!
Received corporate email explaining the changes

I can attest they can’t pay any lower for their web team unless they move it all offshore.

NM will continue to trim stores. In time, they will become a very small chain of stores. There is no way to fight the downward trends without closing stores to stop their bleed.

The layoffs and management changes will happen any day this week. Morale in the stores amongst employees is the lowest it’s ever been.

As an employee of Needless Markup, I mean Neimans, I can tell you, as can my coworkers , that they do not care about their employees. It's only all about the numbers. Senior management does not execute their positions properly so the policies and procedures are seriously out of whack. It is a very convoluted, inefficient, dismissive ,dysfunctional and micromanaged environment. Do not work there because you will be disappointed and probably quit within a week or two as many others have. Im planning my escape this very moment.

According to neimans..every store it has is profitable.. yeah right...the Dallas morning news and WWD are their two propaganda sources... as I sad before really isnt too much left to chop without store closings..excluding top brass...which they won't..So many ran for the hills past few years..If this "March action" is to occur..at the most it will be 200 scattered layoffs..dept consolidations..just my guess.
It wont be in internet divisions, unless it's to try to rehire at lower wage ... they may try to slice a shred more of Last Call too
