Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Hyvee cutbacks

Yesterday was a hard day for HyVee employees.
84 store directors were either "stepped down", with a 20% pay cut, or allowed to retire.
The stores affected will apparently be managed by other, nearby store directors.
In addition there appear to be other big changes looming, with many department manager positions being eliminated, and the management of those departments being tasked to other, existing store employees.
This once proud iconic symbol of mid-western hard work and high values is about to become another victim of "progress".
I, for one am saddened to see this happening.

Corporate makes terrible decisions, blames all the stores. Now the stores have to pay for corporate greed. They are laying off the most loyal employees.

Thank you for the responses. Hopefully the corporate decision makers can restrain themselves from making further stupid decisions for a few years. That's a tall order though. This must have been quite the aggressive overreach of debt to justify all the nonsense.

Overspending in Twin City expansion, and Market Grille fiasco. Have to cut every expense possible to salvage the company.

The popular ailse online delivery service is being "jobbed out" to a 3rd party vendor,
and "regular time" employees are being re-
classified as part-time, no benefits. These, and many other moves are being made in the name of cost savings, to try to save the company.

20% was the minimum. Some saw closer to 45%. Title change with very little change in duties. Lots more coming to the rest of the stores.
