I work for Norwegian Cruise Line....Even before the coronavirus came into play, (weeks before it was even heard of), Norwegian Cruise Line began to experience a tremendous decline in new reservations. The managers and everyone else were shocked and this was unexpected. Then the virus issue came about and everything fell apart even faster, but it was already on the way out beforehand, even without the virus coming into play.
I am a manager at NCL and it was just announced that we will be changing our hours of operations. We will be open Monday thru Sunday 9 am till 6 pm ET. Employees must take an hour lunch. All night shift employees will be included in another round of layoffs. NCL is basically financially bankrupt.
I am wondering how they are determining which people to let go? I am getting very nervous about the situation!
I got laid off with no return. Out. Lost all my benefits the same day. Cruise Consultant
Yesterday April 30th 2020 over 100 home reservation agents were laid off until August 1st 2020. NCL will be bankrupt very soon.
I was hired in October 2019.
Do you mind if I ask when you were hired?
I just got laid off from Norwegian Cruise Line. I am a Cruise Specialist working from home taking reservations. I was told that NCL is laying off 1/3 of the cruise specialist. NCL has been offering employees LWP full days for the last month. LWP (Leave without pay). January thru March is wave season and NCL books 75 percent of their cruises during this time. NCL bookings are at 33 percent and dropping. For every cruise I booked I got 9 cancellations. The Norwegian Jade ship has been taken out of service due to the Coronavirus.
Things are not looking good right now
