ViacomCBS is preparing for the first of two rounds of layoffs, the first round of cuts, which would affect around 100 people, could take place as early as Feb. 26 — six days after the company issues its quarterly earning report. A second set of cuts is planned to begin on or around March 31.

HR is already top heavy and they know it. Time to trim:)
I feel bad for anyone who could be losing their job...but it would be nice if they trimmed the CBS HR Department.
This is true and it is one of major problems we have
Unfortunately there is a disproportionate amount of employees at Showtime operations compared to Viacom
And bad consumer products to boot. Garbage products. Jersey Shore dolls lol. GTFOH Get em all out!
Distribution already had layoffs in January and they got hit hard. Lost about half their group. I think 50 people were laid off across Showtime, CBS and Viacom.
Unfortunately there is a disproportionate amount of employees at Showtime operations compared to Viacom. Showtime has more operators doing 10 channels than Viacom doing 80. There is bound to be some downsizing there. Not sure how the whole thing pans out especially with the groups combining.
CBS cable . Means linear. It will include NOC.
😘😘
This seems like a rather strategic leak since all trades somehow got this from the same “source.” They didn’t cite each other yet had the same information. Was this strategically leaked so investors could read this “showing VIacomCBS actively cost cutting synergies plans” before that Feb 20 investor call. Very hmmm...
Marketing...Consumer products? Why do these team even exist? Such a tiny percent of money is made from marketing & licensed product- how did we ever justify all those executive salaries? Time for Reality Check. Hopefully the underlings that survive can claw their way to the top and become the thing they always feared. Basically me after the 2008 layoffs, allowed me to absorb so much responsibility. Now look at me, I browse this website, sold off all my via-stock and I'm perfectly enjoying this.
What do they mean by distribution? Also what exactly is legacy CBS cable television operations?
So basically saying the cuts will be in marketing, distribution, consumer products, and cable
