Thread regarding Dean Foods Co. layoffs

Court hearings

So did anything come out of todays hearing?? Im no expert but I don't see anything that means anything. Stock did not nose dive so guess business as usual? How long can they survive? Not one change at my plant way too much overtime and way too many employees for our volume. Any thoughts on our future?!

As the below poster stated, management is spending away. Allowing overtime when it is clearly not needed. Such as on wednesday when dairy doesnt run. Spending foolish money like on up and down arms at the entrance that have been sitting there unfinshed since october now all of a sudden they are putting money into this new thing. We are being told the same thing as many plants such as oh we are going to go it alone. We are very profitable. Oh and the supervisors walk around barking orders, in departments and at employees, even though they have no idea how to run the department. I really hope someone comes in and cleans house. Absolutely rediculous how things are being done. Non productive ways over productive ways by supervisors while managers run the other way.

Clearly the comment from the older employee shows that we can't trust what management is saying and they really don't seem to be committed to saving the company otherwise we'd see them actually looking into overtime management and cutting spending.

We're re-organizing == false
We're going to go it alone without a sale == false
We are in deep discussions ready to sign a deal with DFA for a buyout == true but only true if the DOJ isn't looking. This relationship is related to a loan that DFA is owed in the event Dean doesn't pay that they will owe a significant amount of interest on.

Management seems to have zero integrity on what they say. Really shameful.

Prepare for the worst at least where I'm at. They can't seem to get new trucks. They can't seem to get new product boxes for different customers, you know to hold more ice cream. Excetera. And yeah regular hours and no care for how many hours or overtime. Looks like they're just milking it till it's dry.

Bummer - Wish you had said they were adjusting and cutting overtime and trying to save as much as they could.

They did in fact say they were business as usual though, which to me is pretty bad given the situation.

If you've worked there 25 years, that's a long time and you should probably be looking for different work in my opinion.
