Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Are they trying to get us to quit?

Is that it? The company has too many full-timers currently and is finding a way to get rid of us that will not make it look like an even bigger villain than it already is? Because I can't afford to lose my benefits if I'm bumped down to a part-timer and I'll have to leave if that happens.

Each day this company makes me more and more sick at how it treats its employees.

Keep the faith. Walmart is surely a despicable company. But management will get theirs, if only in the next life. Karma is hell. Maybe your RM or MM will get the boot next, or maybe they'll get coronavirus, or maybe when you sit on the pot in heaven their face will be on the bottom of the commode and at the receiving end of what you release. Who knows?

I'm not wishing any of these things on anybody, but justice will be served in the end.

Walmart obviously views employees as a liability and must shed as many as possible. Many companies do that, no big surprise.
However, the bigger story is the recurring theme of HOW they are doing it. Hiding behind false evaluations, changing policies to be 100% in favor of the company to encourage turnover, applying relentless workday pressures designed to make anyone fail. And finally kicking people in the a– out the door with 0 severance along with fighting unemployment payments. And lol for even a thank you for your years of service. All designed to be punitive. The CEO must have a smile on his face when this is accomplished. You could not write a fiction movie any better. A deep hatred towards Walmart is breeding which social media will tell to millions of people.

Reason given for hour reductions is availability. Yet people with open availability are still being cut.

What is the reasoning given when you asked about your hour reduction?

You can go to your state workforce commission and put in a claim for reduced hours.

I worked for Walmart at the Home Office for 10 years. I left in 2017 because it became a $#!t show with rampant ageism getting rid of excellent associates. Once the Home Office got rid of their initial targets, they started using the 'burn and churn' method of annual evaluations to get rid of the rest.

It went from a decent place to work, and I use the term 'decent' loosely, to a 'I need a paycheck to pay my bills' environment.

Sound familiar?

I visit this site to keep up with the current situation. Walmart became my last resort place to shop in the past few years. Now? Listening to the the fact that Walmart has brought back 1850 working conditions, I will avoid them altogether.

Yes, what they are doing is terrible. I actually physically get sick to my stomach going into work in the morning. I’m a full timer being cut down to 30 need 34 to maintain benefits. Already going on week 3 with 30 hrs. I need to start looking elsewhere soon. After 9 years that’s the thanks good employee gets. Also at my store 17 year associate has gotten scheduled ZERO hours for 3 weeks. 17 YEARS that’s how much Walmart values it’s employees.
