Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Run, Don’t Walk

I’ve come to this website for a long time but this is my last time.

I’ve spent a lot of time talking about the company’s plans, mistakes and greedy selfish disregard for the people who work for them. But I’m done now. I don’t care. Why? Because I’ve learned something lately. This company just isn’t worth it. They’re never going to care about me and you and we all need to stop wasting our time talking about it. If you think any of this is going to create one bit of change or somehow jog the morals of the people who run this company back into place then you’re just kidding yourselves. It’s time to stop talking and just do it. Leave.

I know that many of you will say that you don’t have a choice to leave but you’re wrong. You’re better and worth more than this. We’re all wasting our blood, sweat and tears working for this company and I’m guessing that you all know that deep down. You just need the courage to see it, trust in yourselves and make the break. I did. I’m done. I’ve had it. No job should make you feel this miserable and angry. You shouldn’t feel nauseous just thinking about coming to work. And the more and more associates I talk to and listen to, I realize that I’m not alone.

So, stop coming to this site. Stop talking about the things that the company is never going to care about. It’s time to go. Realize that you are worth more than this and just decide to do it. Run, don’t walk.

12 years 10 months for me. Definitely won't wait for my 13th anniversary! I've built relationships/trust with many realtors, contractors, property managers and other regular shoppers over the course of my tenure. Most of them don't buy appliances unless I'm the one ringing them up. From the feedback that I've gotten from the majority, they will take their business elsewhere. We use 3rd party delivery (nightmare), but I'm always on top of things to fix issues promptly whenever these high volume customers get screwed by the delivery folks. My customers appreciate what I do for them and they'd never even ask for a manager because they know most of the ASMs/supervisors have no clue how to run the business. This ship is sinking fast!

I was laid off last year. The SM told me I could reapply for a floor position. I told him that he was doing me a favor by laying me off. I am a lot happier now. I make less but I am happy. That 's what counts, really.

The are several retailers in the shopping center where my Lowe’s is located. All are offering more than I make at Lowe’s after being there for 6 years. Several associates have pointed this out to management , their response was “go work there then.” Very telling about the current situation inside Lowe’s stores. They just don’t care about those who make them money. Marvin would rather give it to his friends.

I left my own way as well. After many years and the current climate in the store, newer management could not be trusted. The SM has all kinds of issues, HR investigations, personal and work. No leadership qualities. With no HR in the store, I closed and walked out the door. That night I sent a resignation email to Regional HR who I have known for years. I spoke with him later on and shared that I do not share Marvin’s hedge fund vision. I am retired. The greatest economy is now, just not with Lowe’s Blue HD! For those that stay, it will not end well. There is a great world outside of retail home improvement.

Hello to all of you, I retired in 12/2018, best thing I've done in a very long time ! Actually I had planned on staying a short time longer, but after seeing what I was continually seeing, I could see where the future of the company was heading.. downward. At my store management didn't care if you gave notice or not, since I was an older associate who had been with the company for quite some time it kind of bothered me that I couldn't go what I've always considered the 'normal' route of giving a two week notice. I can't remember how many times I saw management tell people who tried to give a notice.."just go ahead and leave, we don't care". I was the closer one night, and I had everything planned out perfectly. I had already cleaned out my locker, and I had got on lowes net and printed out the official voluntary resignation from, I made several copies of it after I had signed it. So right before the store closed I put a copy in the he office (when they still had one), and I walked up to one of the asm's and with a smile on my face handed him the form. I wish now that I had taken a picture of him when his mouth flew open. But after I gave it to him, he said " I understand, it's going to get worse ". The good thing is that there are jobs available, since I retired I've been offered several interesting job's, but of course I wasn't interested. Good Luck To All Of You.

I’m part time and now that my hours have been cut to next to nothing I spend my time searching for my next better paying job.

Let the newly hired get all the hours; I’m not answering the phone when you call asking how to order blinds or how to match up the labor with the product in ISST. I guess it will fall to the do nothing/know nothing managers to help.

A "demoralizing pit of dysfunction". Best description I have heard for this dumpster fire.

After 13 years I have two interviews elsewhere. I have been a leading performing manager for multiple years but I have had enough. The district staff is worse than ever and you get zero support. No matter how hard you try they put the micriscope on what may have been done wrong. This company has turned into a demoralizing pit of disfunction. This was once great place to work....now I can't leave fast enough.
