Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Hours

Any other FT associates getting their hours cut? There are full time associates at my store not even getting their minimum hours of 34. How to they expect people to pay their bills. Walmart is getting more awful by the minute.

40+hrs with a few approved OT hours every week. Open availability but still only scheduled to work the hours my position is supposed to work.

You can go to your state workforce commission and put in a claim for reduced hours.

My store is pretty sh–ty they are not allowing people to get secondary job codes. Cutting our hours drastically. Awful management we have. Their answer to everything open your availability yet people who are open are getting cut. One csm has 20 hrs. Available 7am-10pm and is ft. I will have to start looking elsewhere for employment. After all these years that’s the thanks good employees get. Walmart doesn’t care we are just a number. Very upsetting what they are doing to long term associates at my store.

I am FT with open availability and 2 secondary job codes. I'm still getting 40. I have to be careful to NOT go over 40. The key is to talk with your manager and ask what options are there for you. That's what I did and so far, so good.

When will one lose their benefits then? I am full time. We are being told if we do not open our availability we will continue to loose hours and will not get scheduled. I’m available Wednesdays and have not been getting scheduled but they are putting someone else in my spot for time slots that I am available for. It’s just a game and management doesn’t care. One 17 year associate has not been scheduled for 2 weeks she is part time. But is getting 0 hours and they are saying because availability.

There is no such thing as a min per week. Whoever said that is not sure what they are talking about. The hours “threshold” is to maintain benefits 3 weeks of under the “min” does t mean someone loses benefits.

This happens every year in January, February and March. Everyone gets upset about hours being cut. Home office tells stores to give full timers 40 hours and to cut part-timers down, but then you don't have enough people so stores ignore it. This will keep happening until the robots and self checkouts outnumber the associates.

They are saying people who do not have open availability will get no hours yet the people with open availability are also getting their hours cut. It’s just a game they play, I guess Walmart wants us all to quit and just hire new people for no hours or benefits. Awful company they are.

I heard from a friend of mine out in El Paso (Walmart on Woodrow Bean Dr), that ALL associates with 15+ years experience were let go today.

When I worked there as a full-time associate, they had me at 32/week. When they forced me to be part time, I was given 40/week. No joke.
