Actually, the Feb 3 WTI price is now down to $49.98 at midday and will be going lower. The industry is going through a momentary downturn. It won’t last forever, but I’m afraid it won’t be pretty before things start to improve. Best of luck to my colleagues still in the biz.

Yes, I’m afraid the industry is contracting. Chevron, Exxon and others in the oil sector will be trimming back. I heard someone mention that cutbacks or a general layoff at Chevron will begin in October this year.
