Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

REALITY

No question Pepsi has evolved into a state of complete confusion. Just judging by the questions and feed back seen here, any progressive company would see that HR has failed the company. Employees are dazed, confused and fearing their future. This state comes from a complete breakdown in trust and communication. For those thinking you are part of a Pepsi family, think again. I was terminated last year after dedicating the better part of my working life to Pepsi. After I was let go, I was a nobody. The whole family idea was a pipe dream. HR was ruthless on any queues, I had people openly laugh at me when inquiring about positions. I was basically told to leave and don’t look back. People would not respond to emails and leaders would reject any attempts to make contact or even accept LinkedIn invites. Once your use comes to an end, you will be tossed out like the garbage. It’s a shame but that my friends is reality. Move on !

Last two posters nailed it: Pepsi is a for profit company. Nobody cares how hard you work or what you do. Everyone reports through 1 board and each person is trying to speak to the industry and the misses.

If you can showcase the skill set to control each hurdle you must overcome you will survive. If you are perceived as weak and someone can bury you to move forward they will.

Never forget that each of you are as good as the results you can speak to. If you’re weak, hire really smart people who can manipulate words in a way that you can use to elevate yourself. This is the way Pepsi has been since before we took on those losers on the beverage side who continue to lose money.

My boss really calls it like he sees it. His message is to me was “you’re here to create enough wealth for yourself that you can stop exchanging your time for compensation”. “ Always get paid for your talent and never your time”

During the conversation he told me
“Separate yourself on a personal finance level so you can walk away and live completely free for a significant amount of years without needing to exchange time for money.” Obviously, life advice but the point is we exchange time for a fixed dollar amount. If you want anything more than that negotiate it in on your next promotion or save your money and create your own future. Pepsi is paying us for the work we do today. That’s it

I have an actual family. I would never expect my place of employment to resemble that in the slightest. They get my labor in exchange for compensation, and that's the end of it. I see through the garbage that PepsiCo pushes. They can take all their BS propaganda and shove it where the sun don't shine.

This is an HR driven company, saying that does anyone even know who their HR rep is now? It changes almost weekly and it seems like the replacement is a fresh faced 12 year old just out of school put into a position higher then they ever should have been with their level of experience. Does anyone even know what they do for us now? When we reach out to HR for answers to questions or to have them do something for us we usually just get a deck back with them telling us to read it and do it ourselves. Did not realize my job description included HR work. Very frustrating to navigate through the maze when you are told that HR manages things but they are at the same time invisible!! Perhaps I should train and change fields seems like the perfect job!!

What happens when you take a company that's already broken down and start trying to fix it? It feels like a controlled implosion.
