Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Incredible - GM issuing recalls to fix their recalls!!

They have to recall the T1's that have already been recalled to fix their BRAKE systems again. People are actually losing their brakes, and GM doesn't seem to be that concerned. What about all their talk about "putting safety first"????? And the leadership thinks people will trust them to build safe autonomous vehicles????? Wow, better fire more of your experienced workers.........

They just announced this on local Detroit news this weekend for the first time! The news made it sound like there is no danger but from the other media links provided, it sounds like there were at least a few near-crash events. How could GM sit on this so long before making it public? They truly do not care about their customers!!!

Heard this many times—“There’s never enough money to do it right, but there’s always enough money to do it twice”

I love this line in the article: "GM apologizes for the inconvenience, said Flores, but "the safety of our customers is the overriding priority in everything we do." GM, I"m confused, How is safety being demonstrated as an overriding priority by NOT thoroughly testing the first brake fix , and then when the second brake problem was discovered NOT immediately informing the dealers and customers about the brake failure linked to the use of the OnStar remote start I think the person in the article that says he will never purchase another GM vehicle is going to be the sentiment of many of the truck owners. Perhaps the government should be again digging into GM's safety processes and communication protocols to see if these issues were reported by an employee and covered up.

Don’t be fooled. GM puts program timing and hitting dates as their number 1 priority.

With all the brake recalls, maybe GM shouldn't have laid off the validation/application/performance engineers for the braking systems? Who would've thought getting rid of subject matter experts would cause problems....hmmm. (I was one of the laid off last Feb and there were several brake engineers in my LHH session but we all found jobs since)

Imagine that, as we go into the AV world. Not only do we have to deal with the quality of the lowest bid component supplier, but now we have to entrust our lives to the competency of the coder.

Sounds like the blue screen of death for vehicles, and we’ve barely scratched full autonomous.

What could possibly go wrong? Good luck with that.
