What is a neighborhood store? We are a small store already.

Being designated as a "Neighborhood" store nothing to do with its location. These are stores which have low sales volume based on their square footage. A 200,000 square-foot store with the sales volume around 12 million will more than likely be designated as a neighborhood store.
Neighborhood is a prototype the company started in 2019. It’s essentially a more streamlined store with one central checkout wrapstand per floor, a la Kohl’s. Also no sales associates on the floor, but “talking signs” in home to help customers instead. I think in theory the sales associates would be helping with markdowns as well but that doesn’t work in the store I’m familiar with so the support team still does that function entirely.
That’s not true. Macy’s is an anchor no matter the size.
It’s generally a store that is not an anchor store in a big mall
Neighborhood store designation is the kiss of future death for your store.
