Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

How desperate would a college grad in 2020 have to be to take a job with UP?

UP Human Resources recruiters have a harder job than cleaning the toilets at Taco Bell.

i thought it was sad to watch some of them come and go. they used to get some young smart people that didn't know what they were getting into. they thought they were going to be running a logistics company not writing people up for not documenting how many bottles of water they drank. of course now they don't get any smart people because everybody knows UP is not a career anymore.

It's funny watching them come and eventually go, believing that if only they can eliminate more jobs, theirs will be safe.

They all fail to see that the less actual workers there are, the less management is needed, and the "skills" they think they are attaining, only apply to a company as mismanaged as U.P.

Union Pacific used to be a company to work and have a career, now it's a sh!thole of pain and decimation.

What U.P. and most of corporate america is doing now, will come back ten fold in the future, and they are sewing the seeds of dissent that will carry over several generations, when "business friendly" candidates like Trump will be laughed off the stage.

There's plenty of ex union pacific guys in the unemployment line, or making a third to half what they did at Union Pacific, with low to no benefits, that are wondering where those massive tax cuts went, when it is painfully obvious that they didn't go towards "job creation" or higher wages.

Trump appointed FRA chief Ron Batory is 70 years old and cannot stop burying his snout in the trough deep enough, deregulating the industry he worked in, and is still heavily invested in.

People like Batory's greed knows no end, and they have no regard for anyone but themselves.

Supply chain has an intern who wore shorts to the interview. When asked why the person was hired it was stated that this person wasn’t a good choice but was the best available. The pool is slim

They are probably the ones that barely graduated and if they get a job here and keep it for a year they’ll be able to use it to get a better job

Have you actually seen any recent college grads from state schools or just online bs?

Many reputable universities have stopped inviting UP recruiters to their campuses altogether. HR professionals across the board are warning job seekers not to apply to UP, and the Glassdoor ratings that UP supposedly doesn't care about are often cited as the main reasons.

Several former UP employees who hired out of college have gone back to their college career counselors and professors to give detailed accounts of how poorly UP treats their employees and how toxic their culture is. UP will be sc-aping the bottom of the barrel (the worst graduates from the worst schools) for a long time. Even UNO stopped sending people to UP, and they're (literally) right down the road.

I think the word you were looking for was stupid. How stupid would a college grad have to be to take a job at the UP? Does that sound better?
