That what Macy’s is for Boomers, we have basics and that’s it. Our colors available are blue, gray, black and that’s not what gets new customers. Quick example, a cosmetic online company was nothing it was Chinese c-ap about to go out of business and they signed a YouTube personality to join their brand. The company is now worth billions and sells out of items in minutes. Macy’s wake up, be innovative you already have the Karen Scott, charter club crowd do something instead of trying to follow the same model from thirty years ago. Only time you try and be innovative it’s something from a few years ago and now it’s at Macy’s when the buzz is dead. Ugh so frustrating the brick and mortar business is not dead it needs to change and they’re all dinosaurs...

Oh of course profitable for rich people. But the customer has spoken and they hate macys. That's why sales keep going down. Bc it's all ugly c-ap and the poster below is right that the old dinosaur is usually years late to the party
Very profitable go look at the numbers.. Problem is it’s a public company so profit isn’t enough. Growth to increase value per share, to make the stock price go higher so the current owners (the stock holders) can sell at a higher price for profit.
Yup they're profitable that's why we can't order pens
just a slight correction to the last poster 'Pretty telling'
Macy's is and has been a profitable company. Macy's makes money and pays a nice 9% dividend yield. That's substantial. Might want to do a little checking before saying "Macy's loses money year after year." Not true.
lol OP sure hit a nerve. Pretty telling.
Anyway, y'all can go on and on about analyzing this or that and look how stupid the associates are and they don't understand this business and whatever, but the final judge of all of this is the customer and the customer isn't buying.
And besides, you don't need to know how to analyze margins and profits to realize that what we sell doesn't even remotely resemble what is considered fashionable at a given point in time. That's why Macy's loses money year after year.
Well that's funny, the older boomers in our store are all complaining that our clothing is too bright and patterned and too young looking. 😂
You are the cancer of macys. Our company fails because of associates like you. I'm probably close to your age as well and I'm judging the sh– out of you. Your credit score probably s—s and while I'm sure you're upset your useless overpriced degree couldn't score you a "real job" in the work force, you should be thankful macys took your janky a– in. If I knew who you were and what store you were in, I'd probably tell lost prevention I saw you shove a charter club ring up your a– and money down your bra. Please take your 500 credit score a– back to moms basement
well I agree with that brick and dinosaur needs to change.. macys is fading in the consumer eye. yet its very historic.. like sears. the only thing sears didn't do is go online with its catalog.. amazon became modern sears.. yet amazon doesn't use you tube personalities to sell stuff.. it doesn't need too.. it has a army , navy and marines behind it.. your solution is a short term till you tube pulls the plug on such stuff. which its starting to do. if i could put out the biggest flaw in macys is they are too guarded . the old guard wont let things go... or involve.. too scare of people stealing.. yet like company's like door dash you down load their app 3 days later you working.. your trusted.. at macys your treated like a criminal from your first day to your last.. there is no trust.. no trust to involve no trust to risk.. no trust to open the flood gates and let er rip... the old guard better have life vests..
Would love for this uneducated sales associate to do some analysis on margins, item age turn by brand and color. Then look at it by market. When your done with that pick your favorite brand and just imagine the associate ratio to customer base in growth doors and then analyze margins AOV and AUR in e/f/g segment locations where skill set and product knowledge is lacking by low income uneducated associates.
If you want to show the retail sector how it’s done then show us what you have. Look at margins in the disposable clothing sector and speak to what is happening with fast fashion. Can you also speak to product sourcing and how you can design source and plan by location? Or anything about WMS?
Don’t use offensive terms like boomer as you obviously don’t understand this sector. Let’s say your points have value! Do the above analysis and then give an educated POV without being offensive.
Would love love love to know your identity as you’ll probably be taking my order or delivering my door dash soon. It’s offensive to be called BOOMER.
