Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Working from home, if possible, now JV approved - Covid19

We got the email this morning about the ability to work from home, if possible.

Specifically, "Given the new pandemic level and increasing concern about the speed of the virus’ spread, we recommend that until March 27 you work from home if you can. If you can’t work from home, our facilities will remain open with increased cleaning schedules to accommodate our people. If you come to the office, we encourage you to practice social distancing, or stay six feet away from each other. If you can’t work from home and are concerned about going to the office, please discuss with your manager."

How is your local core/location handling this?

Our core president is strongly encouraging people to work from home. Unfortunately, this isn't possible for everyone. People in the call center and warehouse still have to come in. And of course, techs cannot work remotely. It should be interesting to see how this plays out in the next few weeks. Many schools are closed. Schools are a big part of our business.

Our core is letting people work from home but there is not enough bandwith for everyone to connect through the VPN and activity will be super slow abd they won't have improvement for at least a week so off to work we go!!

Where I work for Xerox, in Canada, the person in charge is on such a power trip she sent a passive aggressive email out to staff “asking” them if they thought they should work form home or come into the office.
If you’ve never had a passive aggressive parent or employer then you won’t get it but if you have then you know there really is only one answer so the only response is to bring the matter to the government of Canada in response to the threat it implies.
People are done playing games. This is the health of everyone and not a policy choice like you were somehow doing the employee such a gigantic blessed favor.
The CEO stated it was WFH (only to save the possibility of losing so many employees that the business could not run - NOT because it’s the right thing to do) So how is it possible it wasn't just passed on like a directive?
Typical Xerox in this day and age
What a dump!

Our core is letting us work from home if we are able. Sadly, many of our people can’t due to the nature of their job. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Xerox always touts themselves to be at the fore front of social change. They should have embraced working from home immediately instead of waiting. Even so the direction is somewhat vague and if left to management will result in more disruption and chaos.

Schools officially closed for 2 weeks, cores need to work with their employees working from home instead of creating animosity and upset employees. It's a national emergency for God sake. Our President is push, push, push, work, work, work and doesn't care or hear the employee voice.

My core is a joke. All top leadership is nowhere to be found. The rest of us are crammed into small office areas and told to carry on.

This is a great opportunity to do job searching without prying eyes.
