Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

The Dungeon of HDC

UPRR rated "#1 Worst Company in America to Work For" for a reason. They have no ethics, Safety #1 only if it doesn't cost or isn't inconvenient, this applies to the public as well as employees, they build trains now 10000, 12000 & 15000 feet plus, this puts TE&Y employees at risk as well as the public. They believe they are above the law when it comes to everything, they break agreements, the delay Amtrak (yes there is a law stating Amtrak gets priority over freight trains), they hold bridges down to run trains while holding boats (yes there is a law stating boats get priority over trains". They still manage by threats & intimidation. Would not recommend working for UPRR to anyone. All though I feel for all the people who lost their jobs, most will probably end up better that those of us, still employed with them. Retirement (if I make it) can't come soon enough.

Sadly the company will always run off fear and thinking it’s more important then everyone else. Unless someone is hired that wants that mentality to change (which there isn’t many people out there who would take that position since they know this company is toxic) or they finally drag the company in front of the government and are held accountable for their actions (another highly unlikely outcome). There is no doubt those laid off and those that quit are better off then those left behind purely because they now have set schedules and are able to spend time with their families. The next contract will definitely show just how many people actually want to work for this company especially if insurance goes up again and monetary compensation doesn’t offset that increase, the company used to have better benefits then anyone else now times have changed and that is no longer true.
