Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Stop IT.

Most of the “facts” posted here are false and are causing damage to real people.
Hy-Vee is NOT in danger of bankruptcy.
Hy-Vee is being sold.
Yes, they are reorganizing and making significant changes.
Yes, many employees have lost their job —- personally I hate this — it could have been handled much better.
But please quit posting rumor and conjecture, you just sound stupid.
If you have been laid off, I am very sorry....share your story.
Others, you are excused from the conversation.

Is this a corporate employee? Corporate has done nothing but lie to employees every step of the way. Before and even after jobs were gone, we were still told at store level that no jobs would be lost. Hy-vee has done themselves no favors and the biggest favor they could give themself is to get Randy Edeker out of his position and have Ron Pearson step in and make this right. The company was doing fine with Ric Jurgens but was amazing under Ron. Get Randy out of there before he does anymore damage.

Ahem ... "Current Staff"? Yeah, I think your efforts here made things worse, not better. Kind of emblematic of the whole problem, come to think of it. Okay, you are excused from the conversation.

I would say we are being sold to the biggest disrupter in the grocery business right now. . . and probably the biggest company in the world one day.

We can sit here and talk about whether these cuts are deserved. But when i get cut after 10 years and i see 2 guys at a store 20 minutes away, in the same position i had, get stepped down to full time positions, i get angry. I know they had more years in the company then me. I know they made more money. They restructed half the store to keep these employees but for me, the former store operations manager, i got a part time offer?!

If you are "current staff" , you ARE the problem. I have worked for Hy Vee since 1978, Dwight, Ron, and Rick were great guys. This current "executive staff" is an embarrassment. Were you involved in Wahlburgers, clothing lines , market grilles, short cut facility, fulfillment centers, grimes joke, Kuemper atena, bakery mnfg, dollar fresh, gas stations, amber rx, or others ? BECAUSE ALL OF THESE FAILED AND ARE K–lING THIS COMPANY!!!!!!Common thread ???? wanna guess????

Hy-vee and me agreed to a set wage when they hired me for my position. Why is it my fault they aren't making the sales on their end?

What are people supposed to think when the company that they trusted to keep them well informed and safe let them down. Time and time again it's always shown that being up front and honest is the best policy to take for a business or individual. Time and time again individuals and businesses fail too do so then scramble at the last minute to try to save face. As of today the employees of Hyvee still have not been given a through explanation by Randy on why how the company made the decisions it made. The commissary is a Joke, customers do not want to pay a premium for items not made instore. The customers feel and rightly so that if items are made outside of the store they should be priced lower than if done at store level. The cost savings are not being past on to the customer because of Hy-Vee's business model. Most of the customers want to support the individuals that work at store level and feel a connection with the employee that help them at the counter. Hy-Vee has forgotten who made them who they are and why people shop with them.
Numerous studies have shown that while people rate Wal-Mart as generally less clean, less staffed and less friendly and rank last or close to last in those areas that those people will shop there just because of price alone even if they rate the above mentioned last and what they look for in a store. People want the items they buy at the lowest cost they can get with the least amount of problems overall. Thats why Amazon has done so well and excelled because they offer cheap goods with not alot of issues and you can order items in the early morning hours and have them at your door before noon. Doesnt cost alot $119 a year get free shipping and so many other perks for just $119 a year.
Wal-Mart in my area pays $2 and hour more than Hy-Vee for entry level positions so they get the best pick of part time or even full time employee's. The perks and benefits that once had employee wanting to work for Hy-Vee can now be had at other places other than Hy-Vee. Pay is a big part of the picture even though if asked directly people would say and rate pay as importance of 4 below that of Work life balance Time off or even how the company treats there employees. People are not honest with the answers they give for most the disposable income they have they will go and seek out the places they can get the best bank for there buck with the least amount of issues.
Hy-vee has customers wondering why they shop there when items ,services and employee pay are up to par with Walmart .

If you don’t know hyvee is corrupt and screwing over hundreds of employees who have spent years of their lives making this company then enjoy your beautiful corporate office that the employees who have actually worked for the well-being of this company earned for you. Doubtful anyone in the corporate office knows what hard work is

If you got cut, ask your self, has my job been reduced over the years to where a part time kid is working along side me doing the exact same thing as me... if answer is yes, theres your answer. Are you making double what everyone else is making doing the exact same job? Then you got a reduction. I’m no expert nor do I have any inside knowledge on the matter, but have a pair of eyeballs. Not saying any of that is right... but from what I’ve seen Hyvee has been working toward a leaner more efficient machine progressively over the years all without making any personnel cuts... did you really think it would last? Eventually regardless of what everyone was told over the years, Hyvee doesn’t do that sort of thing, unfortunately everyone had to find out Santa wasn’t real, they eventually had to pay the piper.

The "fact" people are losing their jobs, and source of income, is not false. It's happening pal. What is your position on the Board of Directors of Hyvee? What does RE's d*ck taste like?

Corporate staffer? Now there's a vision....someone at the Grimes center, whose job is to monitor this site....so what's a typical work shift like? Hmmm,

Clock in. .feel smug that your paycheck is made possible by someone helping that customer at a retail location, whose dollars they are spending makes your coffee, your treadmills, your video games, your time to play with yourself under your desk in your little cubicle.

Hyvee is not being sold but the ship is sinking very quickly. In the last 10 years of randy running this company has he every worried about blowing money down the drain? It has finally caught up with HyVee. More than likely HyVee is trying to
Avoid bankruptcy right now. Just a matter of time before we find out what’s really going on.

So the company is being sold.. better proofread current staffer...

Let me guess, advertising or some other untouchable department within the golden palace of corporate who has no idea how the real work works at store level?

The ship is burning for sure, and the fact you, along with Randy’s other Yes Men (or women) continue to say how great this will be are so f-ing out of touch it’s disgusting.

10, 15,30 + year employees told see you later on a whim.. how the hell do you expect people to react?
