Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

What Is Lowe’s Doing To Prepare For CoronaVirus?

Where is the planning and preparation for the coronavirus in the stores??? We have received no communication or instruction from corporate down to store management!

There should be an increase in the frequency of Restroom cleaning and sanitizing. As well as the BreakRooms.

There should be pallets of hand sanitizers, disinfectant sprays, etc sent to each store for employee use.

There should be an emergency sick policy put in place so employees aren’t forced to come to work and infect others without fear of disciplinary action.

What is being done by Lowe’s Management, NOTHING!!! Where’s the leadership from Marv, Joe, & Jen???

I'm a Lowe's employee currently quarantined per doctor's orders after a positive test result and being very sick. I just spoke with a different ASM than mine and was advised I didn't follow protocal and I would need to call the store manager back Monday. I've been in constant contact with my direct ASM supervisor and emailed her the doctor's orders for her to "begin the process" but nothing has been done, none of my co-workers have been alerted to the positive test result and I didn't get paid for this time I've been out. In fact some co-workers thought I had quit!

This week we got masks. Kind if like birth control after you are already pregnant. Lowe's will have a banner year thanks to Covid-19. How about the 80 hrs for FT and 40 hrs for PT added to your accrual like Home Fepot did for employees who stuck it out and didn't get a 4 week paid vacation, to now come back when most of the lunacy has suppressed. I will go to work at Home Depot when this is over as they have shown they care about their employees. Lowe's DOES NOT CARE!!!!!
Working never ending freight, cleaning, putting yo emwith rude customers. Managers don't even get on the floor to help us, stay in their offices and stay safe.

Hello, I work for lowes for more than 14 years and despite being paid the minimum, I have been denied permission to stay at home and take care of my mother and child. We do not have gloves or masks and we work twice as long due to lack of personnel. I am seeing that many clients come to buy unnecessary things like mulch plants and paint, that is essential to survive this pandemic ???? Lowes should reduce hours of operation and not give access to clients in certain areas such as garden or lumber. The only thing I see there is that in this pandemic Lowes wants to squeeze his workers and make the most profit possible at the cost of the miserable wages of his workers.

Aiding in the spread of this devistating virus to pursue the almighty dollar. Plastic shields, announcements, distances marked on floors and signs, yeah right that's going to do it! People dont care about your announcements or your signs, if they did they wouldn't flock in to your stores to by non essential items. The thing about it you dont care as long as your stores are filled with people and money is being spent. WHAT A SHAME! Your number one concern is money not your employees or customers. The object of a stay at home order is to prevent not to promote.

They are just trying to squeeze every dollar possible with no concern over customers or employees. This is shameful compared to what Home Depot is doing.

Marvin bought our lives for $300.00/full time and $150.00/part time.

We have a number of friends of management out on the two, now four, week company paid vacation while the rest of us suffer dealing with a high risk situation.

Marvin keeps the stores open so he can look like a genius when this is all over.

We have no more essential products, they’ve all been bought. Freezers, mulch, and paint aren’t essential.

Corporate = low or no risk, no contact with customers other than over the phone but sent home to be safe.
Store Associates= Med/high risk due to constant contact with hundreds of customers daily but they are not.sent home to be safe....
Seems a little a– backwards dont you think?

I also work at lowes , we have no sanitizer, lysol or supplies we need to clean highly frequented check outs. And people are shopping for mulch, paint and things that are not even necessary. It's all about the money not employees or customer safety.

If great company truly cared about us, they look at the big picture. Not only are they putting me at risk, there putting my wife and kids at risk as well. Hell I could be walking around with it right now and not showing any symptoms. Sure good old Marvin will give use the time off with no pay because fear is consider non virus related. B/S is what it is, Its not about me, but possibly infecting my family at the expense of this great company . Time to think out of the box Marvin of the real possibilites we are facing everytime we walk in the store instead of letting dollar signs cloud your mind. We are all at risk, not just the ones outside the doors. At anytime someone could walk in with it. Sorry but I'm not a lottery player or a gambler when it comes to my family at pursuit of the all mighty dollar.

Will you be singing the same time when your store runs out of soap and/or paper towels? I hope not. The company does not care so long as mean business insider or vice articles aren't written about them.

As of this morning, there is quite a bit that has been done for the employee, 2 week paid sick leave without getting into vac. and hol. pay. Bonuses, have to agree with sanitizer, but when it’s not available, it’s not available.

I am seriously ill, an older cashier ( working full time, push through weeks lately, but sick for the past 3 weekends). When Im there, pwople cough and sneeze on me 2 ft. away, re-using pens, credit card machines, and cannot distance myself. There's only so many wipes. No masks, no sanitizer ect.
Well now Im bed ridden because Im coughing so bad. I cannot get tested, because they have haulted testing here. So, here I am ALONE, WITH NO RESOURCES, sick and my only choice is show up sick until I almost drop dead, or not have a job or pay. (I had to find someone to drop medicine in my mailbox. God Bless them.

Well they already lowered full time hours to a minimum of 32 hours so they'll be falling back on that when they cut an entire day off everyone's weeks. I can also see our hours getting shorter again temporarily to cut costs.

I've never been more jealous of someone with a cubicle job who can do remote work practically indefinitely. We'll be stuck on the floor talking to people who are sick without gloves or masks or hand sanitizer because the company sold it all without ever thinking about how its employees might need some to stay healthy.

Lowes is not your mother ! If you did not get hand sanitizer and wipes for yourself when you had the chance you have no one to blame but yourself.
Sick time here does stink , but we are all free to look for work elsewhere.

  • every store I went to today had hand sanitizer for their cashiers. All had limits of 4 per customer. Most had giant stacks of paper towels and toilet paper. Some were wiping down carts as customers entered their stores. Lowe’s had some no name paper towels that seemed marked up to a higher price. The same size wipes I got 5 containers at Costco for $16 at $8.98 each so $45 at Lowe’s vs $16 at Costco but they didn’t sell individual packs at Costco. Nitrile gloves- $16 at lowes for 100, $4.98 at Harbor Freight for 100. Lowe’s emergency planning seems non existent.

talk to your local media and give them lowes policy on attendance and sick leave. explain that all big retail corporations force sick employees to come to work or face penalization! its past time ceo's in america are put on trial in the court of public opinion on how they increase the spread of illness in america and perhaps how they should face financial repercussion for the increased healthcare cost to their employees and their families for not just allowing their employees to use their sick time without repercussion.

its not a "benefit" if you are penalized for using it!!

We had the DM and all his minions at our store yesterday. The only thing they were doing was asking each associate what smart customer service was. No mention of the virus or about any preventive measures or concerns.
As always Lowes management is clueless.

Agreed... Nothing you mentioned is being done in the stores. It’s a disaster in the making.

They talk about Safe & Clean stores. What a blatant lie!

Our restrooms don’t even get cleaned since that outside service was hired. They show up once or twice a month.

With this corona virus they’ll end up sued for negligence.
