Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

SERIOUS Discussion Thread and what HV is Doing Wrong

There are a lot of rumors and false information on this site. A lot of It including The initial Post of Hyvee cutbacks was true. Many to All stores are taking management to 40 hour weeks. Stores are closed after 11pm or 12 Midnight until 5 or 6 AM. Store Directors taken To Store Manager faced a 20K-50K paycut (Some More if they Were on Commission).
My Wife has worked for HV for 11 years and has not YET been affected by any changes. She is apart of the 4 departments that were turned back to salary at the beginning of the Year They terminated her dietician and 4 other FT employees from Her store. Fulfillment Centers are closing. Online shopping will be done in-store(again) Delivery outsourced. Something Is happening with Market Grills next week but no other details were shared.
Unconfirmed rumors are as follows:
Store bonus going away
401k match going away
Health insurance will go to a 50/50 split next year versus 75/25.(so your premiums will Double)
HV going bankrupt ( I do not believe this one)
HV going for buyout or go public (this is a Possibility)
HV is exploring going to a Sunday to Saturday timecard accounting week to Eliminate overtime issues to tune of 50M/year.

HV has done a LOT of Things wrong over the past 10 years that the company (rather, its people) are now paying the price for. Market Grills lost Millions, FUlfillment centres cost MILLIONS (and now being closed), Comissary And Shortcuts cost Millions of losses. Changing the sign program and ad program three or Four times on a WHIM over the last 3 years cost Millions. The stores and PDI and CHariton could not support these initivatives anymore leading to cuts at retail. The customer-facing segment of the business is being cut. I am surprised Like Many that this is not being talked about more elsewhere. I think there Will be a SEVERE backlash in the community leading to lower sales, which will Lead to more future cuts and closures. I fear for my wife. I fear for the 100s of Friends we have met Over the years. I truly believe HV wil Survive but there will Be a lot Lost along the way.

They are merely recapping everything that has been said so far, and pointing out what has been proven true (a lot of the ‘rumors’ have been proven true). and what is still just rumors. They are asking for the truth.

So concerned about your wife’s employment that you’re going to throw rumors out? That makes sense...give me a break.
Way to go, trying to instill fear in all the “friends” you’ve made.

I’ve worked for Hy Vee for nearly 40 years now. It is not the same company anymore. It saddens me to see what has happened over the years. We used to be a company of happy workers. Stores were allowed to be profitable, employees enjoyed bonus checks for their hard work and there was a general feeling of teamwork throughout. I feel the company has strayed away from the things that made us successful in the first place, you can’t be everything to everyone. When you spread yourself to thin and try to do everything I feel you become good at nothing. Employees now don’t care like they used to and that attitude reflects our leadership from the top down! I’ve said my piece, lucky for me I’ll be retiring soon but I feel bad for so many younger than me who’s future may not be so bright.

Why is the same CEO still on place?
Seems with all these mistakes you folks would have voted him out by now

In regards to the Market Grills, it's much more likely that they will be "downgraded" to Market Grill Expresses. The idea of a sit-down restaurant in a grocery store was a bad one from the get-go, and they're moving back to the old cafeteria model, but with more bells and whistles.

will HV own the wahlburgers. How ridiculous. They opened Wahlburgers standalones in Minnesota and West Dm and they are losing 10s of 1000s a Month. Randys Wife must Love f—ng Mark Wahlbrug and Randy is Keepoing her happy.

Market grills will become in store wahlbugers. Another failed attempt that will cost stores millions. Anything for Randy to make Mark happy.
