its funny that a company so dependent on IT has such a bad and complex and ancient set of systems
a pile of "security experts" have no idea how any of the systems work
the architects have no idea about modern online presence
the lack of clean backend data on customers is just appalling
the lack of consistent worldwide systems architecture is negligent
the cost of international communications links is outrageous
asleep at the wheel from the Board down

When management hires consultants, that tells shareholders to sell the stock, because management is supposed to have the ideas and vision....hiring consultants means that the management has no clue how to do anything but waste money on themselves and RIF employees
Security and Architecture are bad is because they RIFed all the folks that knew the underlying IT Security and Design. Then AIG hired a CISO who didn’t show up for work for years and had direct reports who lived around the country and did nothing, passed away. Then the directs were Rifed after getting Grade 25 salaries and bonuses. What’s left are newbies who work for a company that exists!! Who would work for AIG as a career choice, only someone who gets paid more than they are worth. Why do you think there are so many directors, senior directors and VPs, “Global Heads” and very few worker bees? The real workers get RIFed! The company is in real decline and BD will soon leave and go back to Hamilton Insurance in Bermuda, where he will pick up the good risks from AIG. AIG only bought the US arm of Hamilton Insurance, wonder how much they paid BD for that deal!
Just wait until the stuff hits the fan, especially overseas. System incidents are increasing while RIFs continue. I've never seen any requests from leadership "What can we do better? What should we do differently?" Fully expect GDPR issues in EMEA, the systems are duct taped together.
Other posters have said it well - leadership never has cared and never will.
Sounds like we need to hire more consultants! A team of consultants to tell us how to manage and make decisions, and a team of consultants to sit next to the employees to learn what they do and micro manage them.
