you must be stooooo-pid if you think the severance is not worth it. i've been sitting my a– at home getting paid doing nothing while i get to relax for 2 months.

Uncertain if this is the same for every state but generally the company is not responsible for payments under WARN in the event of Chapter 7.
Will there be a severance if Sears goes out of business?
I’ve been a part time associate for 10 years. We have a good manager and everyone gets along. The work is easy and Everyone just go through the motions now. I’ve put all of my paychecks into savings and have a good nest egg for retirement. All in all, I’ve enjoyed my time with Sears and will miss everyone at the store once we close down for good
I stay with A&E for the possibility of it being sold:
Sales/mergers usually result in the wholesale slaughter of management. Hopefully, this would eliminate our ineffective, sales metrics based culture.

Once Sears closes for good get another non-retail job. Other retailers have either filed for bankruptcy or have closed stores.
If you are not receiving severance start looking for a job while you have a job.
I like the constant feeling of instability. I'm an unstable person, so it fits.
We're having fun at our store even the managers are getting lunch beers now nobody cares, it's a blast just enjoying the rest of the show, everyone is just waiting around for severance and not even pretending to care anymore, it's better to not sell anything that isn't in stock because then you don't have to deal with the headache of it not arriving later

I'm just riding the wave until it crashes and then I'll collect severance while I look for a new job. In all honesty working at Hoffman Estates is so easy now since there's no accountability, strategy, budget, or strong leadership presence. It's pretty safe to say the majority of current employees don't care anymore, so might as well collect a paycheck while doing very little actual work.
@sqr+13QPJtL1 lol cause they pay us well? Last I checked a store employee was much over minimum wage. Hell people working at volunteer work places make more than Sears employees.
Because I've been with them long enough to where I'm making decent money and if I go someplace else, it will be starting completely over and making considerably less money. I also really like what I do for Sears (home services). I also really like the people I work with.
Because they pay us well and we are dedicated to keeping the lights on!
Because I want my 25 da.mn years, that's why!! I've had to transfer to 7 different stores, but I'm at 23 now, so just another 2 years- just hang on another 2 years, and I'll get that 25!
I left last year when my store closed, but I would of stayed until the bitter end. I was an ASM with the company for many many years making 65 a year and didn’t want to give that money up. It was the easiest money I ever made. At the end there were no customers, nobody cared about anything. I loved all my associates and we still get together. Plus I was close to retirement was trying to hang on till the end.
I stayed because I recently got promoted and I am just trying to have as much time as possible with my tittle/experience so that I can apply to a similar position when the time comes.
The question is how bad of a employee you must be that you have to stay. Because there isn't one good reason to keep working for this company. And before you lösers say I enjoy the people I work with just go get facebook you löser
my suggestion is for those who are still employed with sears and have been with sears for a while, ride it out until it sinks. collect that severance. just sayin'

I enjoy my coworkers. I've met a lot of good people at Sears.
