Has anyone heard anything about layoffs at store level?

The SM at a Houston store has always had to go to a meeting, another store or something very important. He just went home!
Our district changes on a day to day basis. No one knows what district they belong to. They can’t put out a weekly district schedule because it keeps changing. I hope they have the descensy to offer pay cuts to sr sm dm and asm before giving them the boot. A lot of people really still do care and believe in a come back. Our customers are still loyal.
Yeah our DM JR doesn't even work full days, hardly even half days. But don't worry he "can be reached by cell phone. "
Some dms were already let go. What an expensive, useless position throughout retail.
The word is some DM’s will be leaving after inventory. DM’s or SM’s that we’re promoted to DM position and have lots of benefits and a big salary will be gone. They need to go, worthless in our district.
Wonder when some of the DMs are going to be let go. Some are completely useless and never work.
The severance for store workers was a week for every year they worked. For district and above they got a week and a half.
Typically, you won’t find out that you’re maxed out until you’re review when they tell you that you’ll no longer be getting a raise with your annual review. However, just ask your hr person what the pay range for your position is and you’ll know as soon as you ask. It’s not a secret, they just don’t shout about it.
So how do you know if your maxed out in pay? And have they been laying people off at store level this past week?
What is the severance pay from world market?
Ugh, the writing is on the wall. I am that full timer that is maxed out and I returned the store key when some c-ap went down bc I refuse to be used. Oh well, it was a good run.
my store (world market) just let go our department heads and POS team. all thats left are our part timers ASM's and Gms. it was a rough day, lots of tears!
most of the good full timers had already left the company.
My store has 5 full timers and none of them are qualified to step into an asm role. They need to rethink this plan and base it on a store by store assessment.
Sounds like it but won’t be replaced if they leave.
so, is it safe to say that the ASM's will be safe in a A and A+ store?
We already know that they are eliminating the ASM role. They are not refilling it. When I was made the Ops sup this was explained to me. As ASMs leave, be let go via PIP or get placed in high volume stores they will no longer have that role. The thought is that at this rate any remaining ASMs will be left in A, A+ stores and once again won’t be replaced.
To cql+13OYqXFZ: When the keys are given to the full timers, it will be clearly explained that no increase in pay will be granted because the fortunate circumstances are you get to keep your job....and LIKE IT!
So, If the full timers take the keys, are they going to give them the increase for the additional responsibility?
Minimizing number of ASMs to current store needs, cutting full timers that are maxed out with no desire to take keys.
