Sadly lowes is showing its true colors! As an employee i can take time off but i have to use up all my vacation and sick days which doesnt help because im a part timer wih only a few. Home depot offered it's staff 80 extra sick time hours to use in case they fell ill or were concerned about their health! Lowes is still accepting returns even!? No control over crowds! Lowe's response?..add more signage. I guess we know where we stand as employees.
I am a cashier at lowes. People cough and sneeze, even into their hand or sleeve they can still spread the virus. They breath in your face across a 2foot counter. And when they are talking about the virus they keep moving closer,in your space. The governor closed all non essential businesses, I decided my health is more important than dealing with these customers. When I ask how to go thru corporate so I can stay home ( without pay) I'm told to call. I'm told I need a doctors note. Ive been told to talk to someone in the store, who have already told me I have to call corporate. Now I call in every day, hoping I still have a job at the end of all this.
When I called the store they announce the hours have changed,so the employees can clean. From past experience employees don't clean, especially the break room, I can't imagine this has changed.
Lowes RDC is still receiving trailers from China. I have a parents in the mid 80s and have to check on them cause i live the closest. Wife works for a school its shutdown. I have to come into over 200 people and share a bathroom and lunch room. If i take the virus home and loose a loved one because we can't stop for 2 weeks to care for our families. I guess its all about the dollor. My name could be deleted.
Lowes needs to offer an “emergency “ sick time benefit, so if someone is sick and they don’t have any sick time, they could still take time off, not infect the rest of us and not lose their shirt financially.
Sanitary Wipes for the carts? We don’t even have Toilet Paper in the restrooms! Paper for the printers, staples for the staplers, paper clips, etc.
The Marvin minions don’t give a rip about the stores, the customers, and most especially the employees!
Our leader is a phony, Fing, liar!!!
THIS IS NOT THE FLU.
This virus has an R-naught of 4.08% or more, while flu has an R-naught of 1.28%. The R-naught indicates how many people are infected on average by one infected person. The case fatality rate for the flu? .1% or less, while this virus has a rate of 3% or more. And the serious complication rate of the flu is 1% or less, while this virus has a rate of 20% or more. While this info is a month old, it most likely hasn't changed for the better. Re-infection scenarios seem to be the 'people dropping dead on the street' situation we see in China; most things are less problematic the 2nd time around. Do countries generally barricade people inside their homes, close all the schools, build new hospitals, change airline routes, close borders, give emergency rate cuts and halt their own economies at the risk of bringing down the entire global economy–FOR THE FLU???!?
Don't panic–ACT.
Stock up on shelf-stable food and water.
Wear goggles, gloves and a mask (anything covering your face is better than nothing). Use antibacterial hand sanitizer, but be aware that this is to protect your immune system from other complications if you have to fight this virus off (antibacterial doesn't k–l viruses). Leave shoes outside and wipe down doorknobs when entering your home. Do your best–don't give up if your best isn't going to be perfect.
Check your Lowe’s email Weber sent out something about this. I’ve not read it, just heard about it.
We have cashiers that wear gloves. Wont hurt. Remember right now the flu is much worse and many die from that too. Wash your hands and don't touch your face.
Word to the wise: check out Chris Martenson's (of Peak Prosperity) series of YouTube videos about the virus. He is a source of truth among murky waters of false and misleading disinfo.
Remember when we were all going to be infected by the zika virus and the world was going to end during Y2K? The media controls your mind. More people are k–led and infected by AIDS but, you don't here about that. Wash your damn hands and take care of yourself!!!
If you are hit N95 aint gonna help unless properly fitted which the bozos will not know how to do
I heard the same thing,’@zzz+13Nx5du1 . Once the shipments make port in CA, they are being sent directly to North Carolina. From there, leadership is deciding who it gets divvied out too first, like Washington and California. I also heard that corporate HQ has stocked up on everything to make sure that their people are taken care of. Who cares about the cashiers I guess.
A few things to note:
- most of our folks are hourly
- most of our folks have minimal savings
- many of our folks have children and cannot work when schools are quarantined (all hit countries did this)
- most of our folks have difficult time paying any copays, not to mention the crazy money you'd need to survive this thing if you one of 20% that'sh– hard
- if quarantines, no work, no money, expensive healthcare - i think the little guy is hosed (lowes and others) - this a bad situation for everyone and it'll not be like china where the gov paid for everything - the consequences here will be both health and personal financial destruction of the sick
- god bless us all
There will be a time when I'll be too afraid to go to work as this thing spreads. I'm a cashier and I'm literally handling stuff from customers all day and then they come through and cough and sneeze on me.
Harder for me to handle as I see the news talk about it. People are dying.
The supply chain is definitely disrupted.
I heard all the shipments of N95 masks are going to Mooresville for the corporate lead-duh-ship.
I stopped shopping lowe’s for many items because they don’t have wipes for the shopping carts. Every other retailer seems to have them. Is this just my local lowe’s being cheap? Or is it a company wide policy?
I limit my lowe’s purchases to things I can carry in my hands now.
