Walmart absence policies are punitive. I don't see the company making any allowances for ill employees including Covid-19. If one violates the absence policy, it provides a legal reason for termination which is what Walmart wants today. They are in the mode of reducing staff, so just give them any reason to do so and you are gone. That is why I will not shop at any Walmart today including on-line. The mindset is always punitive.
@3kcm The Home Office didn't bother to address that (attendance policy and points). I wouldn't hold our collective breaths.
Walmart put out in a press release saying "if you are sick, stay home." Depending on how bad this outbreak is, they will definitely have to change the attendance policy temporarily to excuse absences for illness. However, it would be hard to enforce that...imagine how many people are going to "pretend" to be sick?
The YBM in Dallas has been canceled if that tells you anything.
You will get coached for calling off because you have the corona virus.
We'll be in trouble because every body is afraid of China stuff right now. If we took all the China stuff out all we would have left are bananas and milk. People will be to scarred to come in because of all the China stuff we sell;.
saw this on Lowe's board:
A few things to note:
- most of our folks are hourly
- most of our folks have minimal savings
- many of our folks have children and cannot work when schools are quarantined (all hit countries did this)
- most of our folks have difficult time paying any copays, not to mention the crazy money you'd need to survive this thing if you one of 20% that'sh– hard
- if quarantines, no work, no money, expensive healthcare - i think the little guy is hosed (lowes and others) - this a bad situation for everyone and it'll not be like china where the gov paid for everything - the consequences here will be both health and personal financial destruction of the sick
- god bless us all
