Cdc deemed corvid-19 a DIRECT THREAT to health and noone with the virus or symptoms should be at work. Employers can send ppl home for either under the direct threat title, however, the McDermott facility in walker louisiana is disregarding this. They are allowing people with symptoms to work around other ppl. They have people working right now that show symptoms then touch documents and pass the documents to other workers. There are many workers that have conditions that make them high risk. They are intentionally endangering employees. They are only making individuals answer a questionnaire in order to continue working with symptoms. They are over 500 employees and the government has asked large business to step up and take care of their people. McDermott isnt. McDermott has manipulated their way into staying open by saying that they have remote workers. They have only sent a few people home, other than the front office. I believe they have included the numbers from corporate office buildings/offices at a different locations to be figured into their percentage of cuttdown on risk. This has in no way cut down on risk for the hands on workers/fabricators/craft employees. This is a slap in the face to all the men and women that make this company profitable and build this country. Not only this, most all craft employees have no sick leave. We need to stick together and not stand for such utter disreguard for human life. Yes most of us would be fine if we contracted coronavirus, however, most is not ALL. They are not providing proper ppe or disinfecting materials to employees. No masks, no hand sanitizer and usually no soap or lysol is available at walker facility. We can self quarantine for up to 2 weeks, unpaid and will most likely be on the next layoff for doing so. God please help us.
