ASM here fired for poor performance over the course of the years was told to me. Which was a shock because I never had any coachings about my performance and never was pulled to office over the issue. When asked for examples my store manager could not supply a reason at all. Found out later today that more managers were fired for the same reason worded the same exact way.

To the fellow reporting with the family of 6. My wife, also a gold ASM with 32 yrs, let go 2 days ago. Evals were a set up leading to this day in our view. One other ASM also let go the same day. Both over 65 years old as well. The pattern of these is crystal clear. Word had to come down from Bentonville, my guess early March 2 (or maybe on a plan drafted much earlier) which would be consistent with the evals. But there is no telling how many were let go this week, nationwide. Must be several hundred, maybe in the thousands?
And your point about how dirty this was handled is exactly my own thoughts. Why not tell the people the truth, and state the corporate need to downsize rather than bashing all individuals and treating people with such disrespect. The quality of people WM has filling these SM positions is incredibly poor. The management mentality from my view is to whip crack all the time. Apply pressure relentlessly. As the saying goes, f—ging a will continue until moral improves. That must be a WM mantra. It is hard for me to imagine a worse company from an employee perspective. From a making money perspective, they can do that very very well. But they crossed the line with this. What recourse do any employees have? I heard EEOC and class action suits. We will pursue as well as boycott as you have suggested but I am afraid we got screwed and recourse is small at best.
I think you are confusing "right to work" with "at will", but point taken.
Class action suit for what ? I agree with you WHOLEheartedly! But Walmart is a "right to work" company ! No unions ! No open door !
They could've fired you for whatever reason they seen fit LEGALLY ! Unless a union was involved !
My wife was an ASM until last Friday. She was voluntold to take OGP last year by her SM. We we’re all trained to support and do whatever the SM says no matter what. She was given development needed because you always get a DN when you start a new role… She had never been coached, ever, and was never told that her eval would result in job loss. 5 days of PTO for 12 years of service, just brutal behavior from Wal-Mart. This was done so dirty, I’m ashamed to even say I was a Walmart manager.
Targeted: I’m shocked to read how many gold and silver badges are reporting being laid off. Sounds like we were targeted in order to save money on severance and retirements. I can’t believe this is legal, maybe a class action against Walmart as this is clearly not the status quo nor was this new policy ever disclosed prior to layoff. I haven’t heard of any SM being let go so again it sounds like just CO and lower got hit? If HR knew this was going on why weren’t they available for calls and or questions? Sounds like they need development, be ready for your business.
We have the power: We are a family of six and we had all our eggs in walmart’s basket. Remember your training, customers are worth how much? We had a family meeting and all agreed to boycott Walmart for the rest of our lives. Amazon treats us better than Walmart even as customers… We are getting the word out to our extended family because this is just gross and Walmart doesn’t deserve our business when they treat people, human beings, fellow Americans, fellow community members and tax payers this way.
It’s all part of the Workday rollout. The rollout included removing PIPs from the coaching process and allowing associates to be immediately terminated. Will be seeing this in the HO as well.
Two ASM’s were fired today at my store. They were shocked and surprised as they both had just recently gotten good reviews.

Walmart is a shadow of itself when Sam was running the company. The kids turned it into a terrible place.
