Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

State Farm and the Corona Virus

Since State Farm really doesn't have sick leave and you get points when you do call out, how likely will people just stay home if they have a cold or flu symptoms? Not likely and we all know it.

So how fast will the Corona virus spread at State Farm?

How many times have you gone to work with a cold or the flu because you have no sick time left and/ or couldn't afford to get points?

How are you going to know if you have a cold/flu or the Corona virus, you're not ,so you are going to go to work right .

State Farm highly encourages it's employees to come to work sick so how fast will the Corona virus spread at the farm?

There should be a software fix for to agents/ staff too. We already own it, share it so folks can take their desktops home and still have phones. No solution for those still paying their bills in cash though...

I work in an agent’s office and we received a memo asking us not just to stay open but to make ourselves more available to customers than we already do, to take pressure off the CCC who gets our calls after hours. We ha e one laptop in the office so it’s not like we can all work from home. Every time someone comes in and gives me cash, I’m spraying Lysol....but my can is almost empty.

They just shut down Murfreesboro today cause someone tested positive. Waiting to see how many others it spread to. They said they were “deep cleaning” to combat the virus but no one has touched my desk area with cleaning supplies besides myself since I started in January.

I'd be willing to bet there's coronavirus at the HUBS at this point. Scary...

Hey. Agents were told that they’re expected to remain open. The website says “Agents offices are open”. Requests for laptops for staff cancelled, and require VPA approval.
But agents are totally Independent Contractors who make their own decisions. So TC is not responsible if it goes south.

They are downplaying it to save money. Profoundly weak response and unacceptable to put its employees, their families and vulnerable populations at risk. F minus State Farm.

So essentially, the Retention team is just Customer Service now. Just licensed. Let the good times roll

They already just "demoted" a large portion of their sales team by reclassifying them as a retention team so they didn't have to pay the biggest share of commissions (on new policies written for existing customers). Should save them a ton of $$ but hurt their sales team considerably, especially since the majority are part-time employees and the new "acqusition" (sales) team have to be full-time.

I just want to assure you a thorough cleaning of E-12 has been conducted. We are even considering a dedicated executive elevator. That, coupled with our underground parking garage, would virtually eliminate contact between us and you filthy, virus carrying commoners.

I've always thought that State Farm's practice in the hubs regarding "hoteling" (desk sharing) was unsanitary. Especially during cold and flu season. It's bad enough that sick employees feel forced to come to work because of points. But not knowing if that sick person was sitting at your desk is really unsettling. Every employee should be supplied with Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. I doubt that will happen considering how cheap State Farm has become.

@1joa yes they did and in my department (claims) most of the employees used it up already, no discipline and when they really get sick will be crying about using up their PTO and accruing points.

The company just gave everyone 40 hours of life leave this year?

If we’re lucky, it’ll infect the 12th floor of E Tower first.

Oh, it will spread fast at the hubs. Hundreds, thousands of employees crammed into cubes in buildings that are sealed tight. Just a matter of time.
