Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

This is going to end badly for a lot of retailers

Covid-19 is decimating supply chains and the stock market at the same time. As it spreads through the USA we will see financial collapse at historic levels. There is nothing any retailer such as Lowe's can do to prevent the inevitable.

Employees will not feel safe in areas where the virus will spread and will not go to work. Empty shelves will run rampant for a majority of retailers who depend on China for their goods.

It's about to get ugly folks. Prioritize what is important to you and make decisions based off of that.

CEO and company will see the writing on the wall and will be pushing Store Managers to get results where there simply won't be a way to do it. I am not looking forward to what we have in store for the next couple years.

Get a grip people and go wash your hands good and often. Don't believe everything that the media says. Experts are just saying to be cautious, not paranoid.

You probably do need to dread the next couple of years at Lowe’s but I assure you that it will have nothing to do with the corona virus. It will be about maximizing productivity and taking more cost out of the stores.

Sure and the most important law we can pass to fix the judicial system is tort reform. Sorry for the long post I know you want to get back to listening to Rush.

Overblown is right! The economy is fine. People, politicians of a certain political party in this country, and the news media are simply overreacting to something that has a better survival rate than the average flu virus. In fact, 80% of people that have been infected with covid 19 have experienced either very light symptoms or no symptoms at all. There are viruses everywhere, people! The common cold is an example—it has no cure, but do you see everyone panicked about that?? Of course not!
Yes, there is a need for caution, prudence, and common sense, but there is no reason for everyone to be acting like this is the Spanish flu of a 100 years ago because its not.

"It is not more deadly than the common flu." WRONG. Death rate for Covid 19 is estimated at 2 to 3 percent mortality, wheras mortality rate for flu is .1 percent to .2 percent. That makes death rate for infected persons 10 TO 15 TIMES as deadly.

It's not more contagious. It only spreads faster because the population is not vaccinated. It is not more deadly than Flu A/B which are hitting children particularly hard this year.

The problem is that its more contagious than the regular flu, so it’s moving faster than they can make a vaccine. Hygiene is key.

US just had it's first case of person getting it via 'community spread' never traveled outside US. When it starts spreading more, the stores will be ever more germ infested place to work. It's bad enough with just the colds - I know people need money, but they come to work so sick and don't bother to cover their coughs/sneezes. We are so short cashiers I've had to cover breaks/lunches and when I go up to register area and person is visibly sick I wipe everything down before I touch anything. One person rushed to bathroom, said he had flu, thought he was going to through up again. Almost impossible to keep away from all the current germs.

Your figures are a little low. President Trump announced in his speech at 6:30p last night that he didn't realize 35,000 Americans die from the flu annually.

The virus is nothing but a scapegoat for bad oversight. .000001 % of China’s population caught it. 1% of that .000001% died of it.
Every year 18000 people die of the regular flu, and millions more contract it.
Stop overreacting to everything because the news tells you to. If someone you know (even remotely) gets this virus de jour, then you can panic.
