Receiving jobs

So my store hasn't mentioned it yet but just heard from another store that they are essentially getting rid of receiving and now being called Store Environent. Does anyone know the logistics of this? Who is going to unload trucks and process and do all the other things like light and my store has backstage so we process that as well. Its nerve racking.

We are adding to Backstage and cutting in other areas on the selling floor. We are cutting in receiving and pricing but adding more to signing and merchandising. We are all curious to see how this all works out. No mention to changes for leadership, I'm sure that will happen once hourly changes are complete. I have read about changes to visual, OAPM, MTM and Sales Managers but have yet to hear anything in store yet...we will all see. Good luck to everyone that is still waiting to hear if they are "safe".

This means that everyone is unloading the truck on the support side going forward signers/pricing/merchandisers everyone. They are going towards the Target model support/sales staff are pretty much the same. It’s going to be rough due to a lot of stores having specialized support colleagues and they will most likely leave due to the job. This year is going to be horrible, I for one do not see how it’s going to work at all. We cannot keep up with the workload as currently staffed so let’s cut more, makes sense.
These decisions were made way above store level. We were given the list of colleagues to be termed and had absolutely no say.

They are getting rid of benefitted Full and Part time in Receiving, replacing them all with flex on call. Receiving will remain but just with flex people. Big mistake.

Should be interesting next year, we already can't get our trucks unloaded and processed in a timely manner as it is due to a lack of hours, and we just cut four warehouse-men union jobs in our store. We receive trucks Monday through Saturday with an expectation that anyone on the dock team be available to work these days. Going to primarily flex positions and expecting flex team members to be available six days a week without any commitment to a minimum hours each week, good luck hiring and retaining a dock team.

Flex jobs are paid at the minimum wage for the store, someone in central should see what it takes to unload trucks in summer when it''s 110+ degrees on the trailer, or work on the dock in the winter when it is so cold that your hands hurt. If anyone thinks that receiving managers and leads are going to stay and be expected to meet the crazy door to floor in 24 hour expectation with no one but a flex team, you will see how quickly our skills are in demand at other companies as we flee to a workplace with more realistic expectations.

Perhaps the store managers and sales leaders can get off their back sides and unload the trucks this year. It will be interesting to see what happens as trailers backup, merchandise goes missing on the dock because all we have are flex workers who will feel like they are being taken advantage of, and productivity ceases to exist as the remaining experienced receiving leaders join their teams in looking for jobs elsewhere this spring.

this is a joke... not only will you not have people unloading trucks you wont have it on the floor to sell it... which means the sales asscosites will be doing it... the flex means they will have one flex guy come in at 4am and do it for 3 hours...

They are downsizing receiving not eliminating it. Just another way of saying more productivity expected but less resources with which to be productive with.
