Sadly, moving call centers off shore isn't a Xerox thing. The majority of companies seem to be doing this.

The idea is to frustrate the customers enough with the incompetence and inability to speak English, that customers will stop calling and solve problems themselves. It then looks like quality has improved because nobody needs support.

I had a friend in HR who told me that when the issue of French language requirements was raised, Icahn's team first suggested that it was not a legal requirement, then tried to find French language speakers offshore (India?), and then decided to use Google translate instead. Kind of summarizes what's happening to the company.

Yes, The entire tech support (DSE) team was closed on last Friday in Toronto. We heard equipment from Toronto, montreal and saint John, NB being shipped to Guatemala. They planned this long ago. I don't know how they will replace the French speaking agents in Canada as Canadians are particular about where they are calling. They are just trying to cut as much as they can, so that when the stock price hits a number, it's time to cash in and move on to the next company.

Canadian call centers will be moving offshore, and some that are already offshore for US organizations will be moving to Manilla.

We have been moving call center jobs there for the past 10 years.

Are you talking US or Canada? I wasnt aware of there being any call centers still in the US. The webster, lewisville and wilsonville ones were closed long ago.
