I got out and work for the city and I am so much happier. No more unrealistic sales goals, credit cards, or calling clients for endless sales. I have a set schedule and for the first time in years I am able to enjoy holidays.

I got laid off 2 years ago after 10 years with Macy’s and it was the best thing to happen to me. I work now as a school bus driver and make almost double an hour with a nice set schedule and no holidays.

I had a friend in HR at Macy's Technology who once asked me if it was normal to hate everyone she worked with. No, it's not, and Macy's HR in San Francisco is a microcosm of what's wrong with all of Macy's Technology. They are horrible horrible people who have no idea about how to create a positive corporate culture. Now that I'm at a company recognized by Forbes, LinkedIn and Glassdoor as being one of the best places to work, my happiness level is off the charts.

Let me tell you there is life after Macy’s. I stayed in retail management and left for another retailer. I cannot fully express how much happier I am now. I didn’t fully realize just how poorly Macy’s treats their employees until I left. It was really bad in the multiple stores in which I worked. Just cannot believe how much Macy’s expects without providing much needed resources. I wish everyone the best of luck!

I started aggressively looking in October of last year and just recently started my new job. And it was my first choice of all interviews. Small, privately held medical firm. It’s hard work and allot to learn. But i already love it so much. Normal hours. No working holidays anymore. And i know I’m appreciated as a part of something real.

I visited my old store to shop other day and all my former coworkers couldn’t believe how much happier and better i looked. They said i was glowing. I wake up early on weekends now out of habit instead of trying to gain every last min of rest i could when are Macys from being so tired.

In the end, try to explore non retail options. There is life after Macy’s

Some people were haters. But i got out in time as there are talks of cuts at our store again in feb.

I saw the writing on the wall after the first round of cuts a couple of years ago, and started getting my resume out there.

I ended up with a GREAT job with a law firm, with opportunities for advancement.
