Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

GWP

Well... the rumors that have been circulating for months came to the forefront on 1.13.2020. Co Managers are being eliminated. A Store Lead, and two additional coach positions will replace. As a Co, you are not allowed to demote, only a promotion or lateral move. We have until 3.27.2020 to find a new position or termination and severance.

I never thought in my 30 plus years, would ever be worried about job security. How wrong was I?

Brace yourselves as tenure shows no value, performance even less, only where favoritism and discrimination reign. Hourlies can expect to see their hours cut to increase profits. Time to push back on these unfair actions. Unions are coming

When are the CO’s going to be gone? We have one CO at my store who is a total jerk! Many will be thrilled once he is gone!

Umm, maybe that ASM/CO should have learned their lesson the first time. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I feel so badly for some of the COs! One who was a CO and displaced the last time took an ASM position and was just promoted back to CO in December. If this was to be announced - it sure hasn't been yet.

The problem will be getting back into the work field but hopefully your fit and haven't been sitting. In offices and not running around for years.I was a Co
And by the Grace of God got a wonderful job not retail or managing people just working and making just as much hope you have a good transition at this point trust no one and rely on family to see what's out their good luck.

There is no job security in any company. Period. In the past my father worked for a company for 25+ years and never had to worry about job security. The workplace has changed dramatically and there is no company who cares about its employees anymore. You are just a number. If you think you will never be replaced, think again. We are all disposable. Companies use employees and when they employees are no longer providing a benefit, OR make too much money or have great benefits, guess what, they turn you loose. Unfortunately, this is the world of work today. When I joined Walmart 27 years ago, never, ever did I think I would see the stuff that goes on everyday. I get it, Walmart and other companies have to change and grow, but at the expense of its employees? Not right. Just not right.

How many stores are moving to this right away? I'm at a supercenter that pulls in 130 million plus a year.
