USA today reports that a pro football player donated $80k to a Walmart in Florida to payoff layaways. The layaways only totaled $60k. The managers let employees put things in layaway to use up the other $20k. Yes someone ratted them out. Yes Walmart looks like sh**t.

Honestly? What wound have been the problem with donating that extra $20K to charity? (Walmart claims that’s it’s so “community based” & supportive of their communities. I’m sure a homeless shelter, a soup kitchen, or a food pantry would have loved to have received a surprise & certainly welcomed $20K donation.)

Actually reading the article this is bad, but not as bad as OP's version led me to believe. This was self reported and corrective action taken. Not a good look, but not what I thought when I opened the article.
