Historically looking the HO has layoffs every January. I am sure January 2020 will not be an exception. Now, the issue is how deep and wide these cuts will be and what groups will be affected the most. I highly doubt they will be touching stores/pharmacy/vision again, they are done with them for a while - but when it comes to the mother-ship, they always get ideas and you can rest assured that SOME cuts are coming.

Is there any word on cuts for MHRMs'?
Updates the vision center going to division 1?
My husband opened the one Walmart app on his phone tonight to tell me something about deductions on his paycheck and it opened up to two links: one for current associates and one for displaced associates. As of yet we had not heard of any RIF actions, but that led me to come looking here.
They do the RIFs (Reductions in Force as WM likes to call them, aka lay-offs, aka fired) in January because Jan 31 is a key date. This is the day you have to work to be eligible for the annual incentive/bonus and RSRs (Restricted Stock Rights). If you get termed before then you are not eligible for the bonus.
This saves the company money so the Walnuts can live better.

More store closures for efficiency where some closed stores will turn into fulfillment centers and/or pickup only OGP centers.
Restructuring is a given with GWP.
Shuffling of salaried management and hourly associates, again a given with GWP.
Due to all of the above, layoffs, associates resigning and/or retiring are to be expected in 2020.
I left the HO sh–storm voluntarily in 2017. It was such a toxic environment and I was miserable. (Along with most everyone else.) I found a better job except for the drive. The 30 mile drive on a bad day could take an hour and a half. I was unable to work from home either. I wasted so much PTO on bad weather days.
Now? Except for relocating part (again) I am making $30k more than WM ever paid me. Good things come to those that leave!
