AMD was already doing great with GF. Why do you have to be so petty? Let it go, dude.
Here's the take I hard on this whole thing, TSMC decided against building (or buying wink-wink) a high end fab in the USA and the government is concerned with having bleeding processes for all of the alphabet agencies. With China flexing its muscles at HK, all of the former TSMC folks heading to the mainland and just general common sense, they would like to keep it within the USA where it can be closely watched. So Intel has been "asked" to step in and reignite their foundry initiative. This should be easier now that GF is out of the picture. GP is being put in charge of Design Enablement and PDKs. Why put a CTO in charge of such things unless it is to really do something substantial like build a customer based PDK/DE system. That's pretty much where Intel Foundry failed before since their customers were previously "captive", they didn't know very well how to deal with external customer. GP brings all of that to the table. Intel has a monstrous fab footprint and my past experience tells me that Uncle Sam pays a pretty good premium for being "secret".
Go ahead and throw insults and stupid comments. You really need to get over the fact that GF didn't crash and burn when you left. I am not saying they are doing great, but YOU expected them to fail within a year (just look at all of the past comments in the last year).
Let's see how this all plays out.
