Wow... so quiet considering the news that came out today! Figures everybody would be celebrating the closure of the SA office.

nepotism brought that office down. Hiring friends, father&sons, mothers&daughters, boyfriends& girlfriends. one person guaranteed a position for their daughter once she was in college. She was a high school senior at the time. She “magically” got an internship there. That scenario occurred twice minimum. Firing someone and family members fired too. Then firing friends of the fired. Inquiries to employees about previously fired employees during performance reviews. A manager doing a secretary. A drill eng telling a supply chain he wanted to know what she felt like inside and nothing came of it.
No regard for being reviewed by other offices. Vitriol towards other Apache branches. Overtaking a project from another office.
Calling our president “Ayatollah” in 50+ person meetings.
I do feel bad for all the actually working employees. They are the backbone of Apache, and really our country.
But these serious personnel and managerial flaws by importing soulless former ENRON/EOG guys and Houston blindly trusting their judgement is exactly one of the reasons Apache and it’s good employees are suffering.
Agreed that it's sad. And I hope that each employee there has a smooth transition to whatever is next for them in their career, here at Apache or elsewhere.
But, you must realize that the opening of that office was the beginning of the decline; accepting that fact would be a wise move, albeit difficult if you work there. Apache was an exceptionally successful acquire-and-exploit company before wanting to become a shale player (several years too late, I'm afraid). The motivations for that are probably debatable but a reasonable assumption is that appeasing Wall Street and/or investors was a big one. Now, several years and several billion dollars later we have virtually nothing to show for it. Good intentions, no doubt, but that doesn't change the end result.
This is what happens when you work in the oil business. Some of you are next to go. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Employees left great jobs, uprooted their families and moved to San Antonio in hopes they would make Apache a better company. No one should be applauding their teammates losing a job or an office closure.
Also, I fail to understand the thought process of San Antonio is solely responsible for the current predicament Apache is in. There is tremendous talent in the San Antonio office just like there's tremendous talent in Houston. When Apaches start acting like teammates instead of enemies the company will be incredible.
Thank you to those who are not applauding the closure of the SA office. Believe it or not, there are some truly great people who work there who have poured every last bit of themselves into what they were tasked with over the last few years. Wether you agree with the purpose of the office’s existence or not, 90% of the people took jobs there to provide for their families and/or further their careers. I’m sure everyone can agree that it’s not like anyone applied for a job there thinking, “oh if I work really hard at this red-headed step child of an office, maybe the whole company will fail.” The majority of the employees did their best with what they were given and are now being punished for poor decisions that they had nothing to do with. I wish everyone the best in the future.
Sad to celebrate anyone losing a job. Anyone. Really, those who do are sad and shameful.
Every bad call/result/action showcases leadership’s inability to lead and make good decisions.
When they are gone, we should celebrate. Not their job loss, but the potential for an Apache future.
Apache won an award. Nothing worth celebrating either. S&Ps biggest loser of the decade. Down 82% value.
There is no reason anybody working for this company should celebrate any news that has come out recently. Let's face it, we went through a major reorg and VP promotion fest about 8 months ago and now we are trashing that organization. How the hell does this CEO maintain a job? Think he has "friends in high places?" It must be nice to place your cronies on the BOD.
It's the site owner trolling to generate traffic. Look at the latest posts option and see that she is posting generic info about every Financial right now.
What news is that?
