Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

GE Power Lays off 68 in Schenectady and Greenvile today (12/9/19)

Sounds like its focused on Gas Power Systems Controls engineers. They were told they will be offered jobs with Quest-Global.

Will you guys in Schenectady be Quest employees or Quest contractors (similar to other contract employees)? Here in GVL we are being told different things. Did the severance package loss include the loss of the one year protected service (because an alternative was offered)?

Accept the Quest offer or you are laid off without a severance package. We lose out on pension, retirement etc...It's GE's way of saying we offered you an alternative. GE wipes their hands of the dirty work. Merry Christmas....

What groups in Schenectady were the 68 from? Were they laid off with the anticipation to accept the Quest offer? What happens if they do not move over to Quest? Are they laid off and sent out the door?

68 people got laid off but it didn't make the news. Not the best joke ever but it did bait the trolls.

Are benefits (health care, vacation, salary, pension) all being given up in the move to Quest?

Dig deeper into Quest....plenty of former GE employees employed by Quest. Quest weighing their options on an IPO in Q1 2020...who's pockets are getting fat on this "partnership" Connect the dots.....

Just more of the "Lean" objective. Do more with less personnel. And benefits. Less permissive time, too.

'Imagination at Work'. Everyday you go to work imagining if you will still be employed the next day.

No socially responsible company will layoff employees right before Christmas.
