Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Passing the time until something better comes along

GE is freezing the Pension, initiating Tier 2 pay, cutting benefits, and layoffs. Where's the investment in manpower? The old guard is getting old and leaving. The new will be whomever they can find. The old days people would feel like they've made to the top of their game to be hired here. Now it's just another job until something better comes along.

So true. From my experience in management, it is getting extremely difficult to find AND keep the competent people we need to operate within the company. Nobody listens, politics, yes men and women, lack of logic and forward thinking, milking and leaving the mess for the next rotated personnel, indecision, nobody watching the store, etc. The list goes on. Efficiency is not at the level it needs to be. Not even close. It is the worst I've seen in the last two years. I've been here a looong time. I hope it can be turned around and quickly. It will take strong and thoughtful top leaders who will listen to the cries. But I am afraid they too are milking it for all its worth until it all evaporates.

Instead of sob stories we need action men to pull us out of this mess. We need leaders who can lead. We need people who can manage not a bunch of clowns.
