Dividend Deathspiral

Congratulations NM you now have the lowest dividend rate out of the big 10. Scroll to the chart at the bottom to see the 10 year decline and how NM compares to other insurers. Maybe someone could share this with the NM board as it appears they have not seen it.

I get what you’re saying about the dividend rate being more about marketing. That’s exactly why NM only mentions the total payout on LinkedIn. Even though every company may calculate the rate differently, the rate still has some meaning to the policyholder/client. It’s the rate of return an individual policyholder/client can expect.

Its young whipper snappers like yourself that are driving this once great company into the ground. NM never even imagined layoffs during my generation. We knew how to solve problems and still retain jobs and dividends for our policyholders. You "kids" can't even turn a decent profit in one of the greatest stock markets of all time. Sheesh

All I know is that my dividend never reached the 8% that my agent and the company promised me in my policy illustration.

This isn’t an apples to apples comparison...Not saying that NM couldn’t do certain things better but there is no uniform way dividends are calculated across the industry and these numbers are now much more of a marketing piece than actual product performance.
