Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

See the CEO’s Thanksgiving note?

Thanksgiving is this great time when we spend time with our families and enjoy the holiday. You however won’t be enjoying any of that because you’ll be working, sorry ‘bout it. The cynicism was dripping out of that note in MySource, because you know that no one in corporate, regional or district management is working this holiday. Just us grunts on the ground floor, you know, the people who keep this company alive, without whom all their grand visions and great plans fail.

Honestly, all my associates were
Pretty hyped about getting paid time and a half. I had mostly young kids but the day went fine and we made great sales. So...? Maybe the people complaining still are just disgruntled and lazy and should see them selves out. My associates have been pretty Oblivious to anything going on with BbB.

I shopped my local store on Thanksgiving night mainly to see if the SM and OPs would be there, NO! They were home enjoying the holiday with the family, people that were there working needed the overtime.
The store inventory was nonexistent, no help on the floor and the 25% discount is the only reason people were there, no special products. This company has gone to the dogs! I’m a former associate and I can tell you the remaining associates are treated like dogs, they were all complaining and afraid they may lose their job.
Corporate thinks they know what goes on, they don’t and they don’t care! The SM and OPs Mgr should have been there open to close they are not any better, their families don’t deserve to be treated any better but they were, sadly to say this won’t change.
All the associates with longevity have left and got good reason!
Run this up the flag pole corporate!!

It’s not hard to comp last years Black Friday cause it was horrible. Nothing to compare for thanksgiving. Regional and district were working that day in case top management did not show up to work they could cover. There’s days at bed bath that the sales doesn’t even cover the payroll for the day. Poorly run company

Im a former manager with bbby and I went shopping in a bbby store last night. Im sorry but you are being sold smoking mirrors. The store looked empty, very low inventory levels and there were very few customers. Bbby is giving away the farm at 25% discounts. The people posting on these blogs are from corp imo. Im sorry but you cant stop a sinking ship thats already hit the iceberg no matter what captain you put on board. Godspeed, but unfortunately we must make changes that involve stepping out of our comfort zones.

We had a very profitable thanksgiving day business and we had our best ever Black Friday- at least the best we have seen in several years. I know the economy they say is better but clearly something went right because we beat sales In our store, and out DM was in helping too and she said that almost all of her stores were up by mid afternoon, and that she expected all of them to be ho by close of day.

The company can try to improve its standing with renovated stores and an attractive product selection. Instead, we limp down the road with no direction in mind. Our DMs talked about us making a comeback. Yeah. That ain’t happening, they’d have to change too many things. And if there’s one thing we know that BBBY doesn’t like, its change. Get your resumes ready, cheerleaders, in 2020 you’ll be cheering for cut hours, salary caps and reductions, and a lot more work and responsibilities than at any other retailer, which your executive team pads their bank accounts and grows another golden parachute. Your DMs will still get their bonuses for making cuts, while you’ll be struggling to keep that roof over your head. Time to unionize, or face termination.

I worked on Thanksgiving. Wasn’t given a option but I have to say the people that worked with me were awesome. Everyone brought homemade food even though the company gave us something. It was crazy busy but manageable. We have to do what need to survive in the new retail world.
Thank you to everyone who worked today. My boss and boss’s boss worked also.

Okay so everyone complaining here. Would you rather the company just shut down today? Would you rather have them not try? Sure he may be with his family, or he may not be. Yes we in the stores have to work but I would just like to remind you all of this: ANY RETAIL STORE OPEN NOW IS IN THE SAME BOAT! That’s retail! That’s not a bbby issue!

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Stay tuned for more poor business decisions, delusional thinking that we can compete with Amazon, Walmart and Target, and more finger pointing at low paid associates while demanding that they make sacrifices as the executive bonuses increase and top tier salaries increase.
